Wow, quadruple of the unemployment rate in Los Angeles compared to Nebraska.

No wonder they opened as much as they could last Friday, their economy is terrible shape.

Los Angeles has less jobs now then it did in 1987 and that was before the massive amounts of immigration from other countries that have a tradition of high birth rates and poverty.

If one removes the jobs that are government or heavily government-subsidized like health care, education and government it's a 2.5 million job economy for well over 10 million residents.

Amazing, how fantastic and well-poised for a quick recovery states like Utah, Nebraska, Wyoming and the Dakotas are compared to Los Angeles.

Doesn't look like many will be in a position to join the labor market soon in LA either with tremendous household sizes they need alot of daycare and daycares only have a limit number they can have in their custody these days.

It's looking like Nebraska, Dakotas are likely to have schools open this autumn, while LA because of their COVID-19 failures may not be in a position to open the schools because of their third-world public health department.

No. Freaking. Way.

I never thought that covid would impact a large dense city more heavily than a sparsely populated rural state.

What a monumental surprise.

Mind blown.

The only tourists that go to Nebraska, sadly, are the ones whose jet has crashed and burned in a cornfield on their flight back to NY.

The problem is compounded in dense areas. Rates matter. You want to live in a densely populated area, you'll pay for it.

Quite a few. The tourism and hospitality industries have been hit particularly hard - two industries that LA is heavily reliant on. The whole film and entertainment industry is also on hold.

Nebraska doesn't have such problems.

CA contributions to US GDP is about 15%. Nebraska less than 1.
I like Nebraska and have had lots of good times there but let’s be at least a little but realistic if that’s at all possible.
