A New York reporter a New Hampshire film maker on the least credible network .... forced myself to TRY to watch it but after about minute and half had to cut off this load of road apples...
I'm ok with confederate monuments being relocated to museums or auctioned off to the highest bidder. Bringing african slaves to America was probably the worst thing to ever happen to this country. We'd be far better off today if slaves had not been brought here. Taking down Lincoln, Washington, and Roosevelt statues is ridiculous, and should be a felony.
I totally get what you are saying and I can't argue with it.
I don't see what the problem with the Lincoln statue is. In the context it appears that the emancipated slave is rising up.
Is the glass half empty or half full --- can not tell by that statue and it should not be left up to individual interpretation ... make it be gone, as it is giving people headaches just thinking about it.
I can't bring myself to watch it. Please someone rational give me the summary.
1) Statues memorialize a false history.
2) Slavery is bad, so anyone who defended slavery is bad. But Jefferson and Washington are good even though they owned hundreds of slaves.
3) A quarter of all US presidents owned slaves, but we shouldn't hold US presidents to the same standard as the Confederacy because that would be erasing history and we need to know our history so we know who we are.
4) There is no such thing as southern heritage, what people call southern heritage is really just white-supremacy, and every monument and memorial was erected to reassert white-supremacy.
5) Statues celebrate white-supremacy if the white man in a statue stands taller than the black man, regardless of context.
6) White people should shut up and let black people do whatever they want and accept that they'll "make mistakes" because they're angry about slavery because reasons.
