Why would GINI coefficients paint us in a bad light? We are literally the most sought after country in the world to immigrate to. Apparently we aren’t in such a bad light if so much of the world wants to come here.

Also, we already provide many of those things. We have some of the most generous social programs in the world.

Please. Think about it. That’s not a good spread for anyone. Recipe for disaster actually

Disaster? The wealthiest country in the history of the world and you call that a disaster? Do you know how many governments, empires, republics, kingdoms in the history of the world wished they could be what the U.S. has achieved in the past 100 years?

P.S Enjoy your tax savings, bet you pay a lot less than you did in NYC! Still waiting on the day life long Democrats stop migrating to red states, LOL.
FYI, I live in jersey, it expensive but worth it IMO. Total taxes are actually higher than in nyc if you can believe it! I also financially support programs that my state can’t afford to fund because I like the kind of work that they do. I am not worried about food flowing in to my already too fat belly. Are you really concerned about the food supply?
I worked hard my whole adult life and was lucky to be rewarded in kind. It does not escape me that I had more opportunities than others. I pay my taxes and contribute to the causes and candidates that have policies that are aligned with my own. If other segments of the populations do better and I do worse so be it.

My children, who are of the generation we are talking about feel the same way and it is a different world for them with a set of different priorities. Pretty soon it’s not going to be my fight.

You talk about how you “worked hard” and was “rewarded in kind” but yet you advocate for a system that punishes hard work (through high taxes) and rewards those doing as little as possible (through government subsidies).

And you are the one a few posts up telling me to “please. Think about it?”

You need to take your own advice because apparently, you have not put much thought into what you advocate.

Just because I made a lot of money doesn’t mean I want it all for myself.

That is fine. You have the right to give some or all of it away. The Democrat’s socialist system you advocate for takes that right and freedom away from everyone through government means by taxing people that work hard for their money and redistributing to people who sit on their butts simply because some people made more money while the lazy made less.

Maryclaire,

You're just gonna see in a "liberal" government what you want to see in it. If you want to think that conservatives are so correct in anything that they're beyond reproach and that liberals are a bunch of Un-American, Communist, Freedom-destroyers, who pay people to simply sit on their ass all the time, then nothing I say will change your mind. The only thing to reccommend to you is to actually go to a liberal city and talk with liberals, see how they live, etc. BTW, "liberal" states tend to make more money per capita than "conservative" ones. It's the liberal cities that send federal funds to help out the conservative states. Of all the conservative states, only Texas even approaches the break-even point of paying taxes to Washington vs what the state gets back from Washington.

First open the browser and see a notice from Karen at the bank. It seems the account has been frozen. Something to do with a comment made on City Data back in 2013. Later there's a meeting at work with Karen in HR; not sure why though.

If you feel that way vote for people who promise lower taxes.
For the record, I don’t think that everyone who receives entitlements are lazy. The government is not the best at wealth distribution but they are the only game in town. There’s plenty wrong with how it’s done and the “lazy poor” are not the big or only winners. But who really knows, it’s all so convoluted. The only thing I, joe citizen, can do is work to elect the people who I think will do the best job.
