When asked at the news press yesterday whether the trump rally should have asked the rally participants to wear masks due to the increasing numbers of Coronavirus cases there, Pence answers with,

Quote:
"I want to remind you again freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble is in the Constitution of the U.S. Even in a health crisis, the American people don't forfeit our constitutional rights and working with state officials as we did in Oklahoma and as we did in Arizona, we are creating settings where people can choose to participate in the political process. We will continue to do that. "

"We will continue to do that. I think it is really important that we recognize how important freedom and personal responsibility are to this entire equation but allowing younger Americans to understand, particularly in the counties most impacted by the challenges we are facing. Their age group, we think is important but it is so important that we recognize that as we issue guidance to reopen America two months ago and has all 50 states are opening up our country again, people are going back to work, everyday life is being restored one step, one day at a time."
How does wearing a mask to protect other participants from the hidden enemy, impinge on freedom of speech or right to congregate?

Has Pence followed trump over the cliff of nonsensical thinking, or what?

Well to be fair, the left seems to believe destroying property and even breaking pieces of the USA off and declaring them "autonomous zones" is protected by freedom of speech... I'll take law and order, as well as a heaping scoop of freedom over anything the left is trying to push these days.

You believe that law and order would be accomplished by not wearing a mask in crowded venues?

This makes no sense... same with VP Pence's comment.

Freedom of speech doesn't equate to forgoing and throwing societal concerns out the window.

All the mask is, and has been all along is a Democrat symbol of subservience to big Government. It also made the nanny state types FEEL better, like they were "doing something". Total farce.

If that is true, why didn't Pence say that? Was Pence a coward?

BTW, your opinion is wrong. Masks absolutely help decrease the spread of this virus but maybe you would prefer another, "stay at home" order instead?

Most masks do nothing and are merely for appearance. People were told to wear "scarfs" and "bandannas". It wax purely a feel good measure. The lock down, social distancing, masks, and everything were totally unnecessary. The Admin had to go along with it ore else be labelled uncaring by the Media which is 98% pure Democrat Propaganda.

there is nothing in the Constitution that mandates us to wear particular items of cloth/clothing on us.

that's unconstitutional.

also the mask is a symbol of oppression, the symbol of the government ordering us what to do.. so you don't wear a mask, you go to jail? pay a huge fine? Meanwhile they are letting criminals out of jail freely.
