Private roads in western states are on private property. If it's posted: Don't enter without permission. If you do enter - don't be surprised if you're not welcomed.

I would protect my house and property.

They were not defending the road but their own property, which they remained on btw. Too bad you don't like people defending their own property. More people need to do it.

And unfortunately, given how some protests have turned violent, it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.
