Nobody follows that law anymore. It _WAS_ a law that if you fly a flag at night, it must be lit. I'm not sure if that's a thing anymore.

It's part of the flag code. Just like the flag touching the ground, etc.

The light must be bright enough that the US flag is recognizable by the casual observer passing by...
