Before any changes are made to laws, or statues ripped down, or dept defunded, there should be a referendum taken of the local people to find out whether they want those changes made.

Afterall it is their community. Do we even know if the protesters are local to the area they are protesting? I suspect a lot of these rioters/looters are not actually local to the areas they are destroying. Any locals quite possible are in the minority when it comes to the rioters/looters.

Therefore the govt has to be sure who the rioters/looters are. Otherwise, they are capitulating to the whims of people who have no stake, dont pay property taxes, nor contribute anything. Is all for their own ego/vanity.

For example, do I have a right to complain about the police in Portland if I have never been there, except maybe for rioting/looting? Do I have, living in NYC, have a right to complain over Mann's Chinese Theatre. Do I have a right a northerner complain about Confederate statues?

All those LGBTQ recently gathered in Brooklyn. A lot of them are transplants. They not from NYC. Now yes, they some have lived here for a while now. But should transient be able to enact changes that easily? What if they move out again?

Until the rioters/looters come forward, reveal themselves, be accounted, why should anyone take them seriously, and give them what they crave?
