Lot's of people making jokes about a girl dying on a highway... Not in the best taste... I agree, she shouldn't have been there, but let's not laugh over the tragedy.
They're not just laughing. They are hoping it sends a message to other protestors. I've seen lots of people on this board refer to humans as speed bumps. Even Heather Heyer, who was killed by a white nationalist. The driver who killed her had several fans on this board.

The POLICE had blocked the freeway. The driver apparently went wrong way on a ramp, then around a police barrier.
The driver made no effort to avoid hitting the protesters, but rather accelerated into them.
After hitting the two people, the driver sped away and was arrested later, a clear case of hit and run.
I agree, protesters should not protest on freeways, but no motorist has the right to administer the death penalty if they do.
Wow, that's not what I saw at all. Let's start with the fact that you have no idea whether or not he sped up, so you are already lying. Secondly, he went around the van and very clearly swerved to the left while most of the protestors were running off to the right, in other words, it looked like he was trying to avoid them. These two women were either trying to challenge him or were simply not decisive enough to leap out of the way.
After that he almost came to a complete stop.
