So what exactly is this indoctrination. How does that work.

Nice try.

Imagine if Amazon ran the school system. They'd teach reading, writing, arithmetic, and all the normal subjects...but that wouldn't be the problem. The problem is when, for some odd reason, kids also come out of the Amazon schools with a pro-Amazon bias, a view of history that favors Amazon, a disdain for ideas that challenge Amazon, etc.

Or replace Amazon with the Catholic church if you want. The church runs the school system. If you're someone who doesn't want your kids to become Catholic, you might prefer that they learn somewhere else. You could talk to them regularly after school to unlearn what they were taught, but that seems unnecessary if you can just remove them from the school.

I'm Catholic, and went to Catholic schools...church at least twice a week. And then mass on Sunday with the family. Nice try

Not seeing how that contradicts anything I said.

Let us begin with the following hogwash: By substituting politically-oriented messaging for education; by factoring immutable characteristics into grading practices; by teaching pupils what to think rather than how to think; by silencing and/or punishing challenge, dissent, and inquiry; by preferencing feelings over facts; etc. There's a clear distinction between what some people say is true versus what is demonstrably true, either directly or in the abstract. Individualism, free thought, and fact-based argumentation are increasingly discouraged if not outright forbidden, and alternative methodologies of instruction increasingly suffer the same fate -- a circumstance which runs in stark contrast to the idea of differentiated learning that budding teachers are taught as undergraduates in post-secondary institutions.

After having an 8 year old at home for the last 3 months, nothing could be further than our minds than homeschooling.

3 months like these, and we'd be sending her off to an in residence private school.

No thank you.
