Aborting "all they want" is doing the country a huge favor!
You know, you have a point there. I'd never considered that. How many future rioters, looters, malcontents, and destroyers could be... eliminated... by "nipping them at the bud," so to speak?
I know I'm wasting my time with you, but I'll give it another try........
Whether you agree or not, there are many people, some of them even reasonably intelligent, who see many issues that caused, and were caused by, the War between the States. Or the War of Northern Aggression as it was called in the South. Out of the top 10 issues, I would say slavery was about #4......
Everyone has their own reason for flying or wearing the Stars and Bars. I understand that you find the concept abhorrent and I respect your reaction to that flag. Your situation and environment are obviously different than mine.
So if you were ever to stop by for a beer, I would take down the flag and change T-shirts....just out of courtesy to you as a guest.
RESPECT it should be at the principle of our society. This is one of the posts I have seen. It is true and makes sense.
Because they can. This is America, and I hope it is never illegal to fly whatever flag you wish.
The fact that it has become a stupid thing to do will not stop a lot of folks. They'll fly it anyway.
State government buildings and municipalities and so forth should not fly it. We Southerners lost that fight many years ago. It was ill advised, doomed from the start and those who died did indeed "die in vain".
Growing up largely in the south I remember seeing “Confederate” flags and just being told it represents the south. There were no explanations of the Civil War, slavery, civil rights, etc. Honestly, I never really connected the two until I was in college, much later. I think most people in the south just think of it representing the south, not slavery or racism. I wouldn’t fly the flag myself, but understand in having pride in where you come from.
If we’re going to condemn every group of people or land based on history, then everyone would be condemned. The flag we call the Confederate flag never actually represented the Confederacy, it was a battle flag that became popular and later on became a symbol of the south in general. It’s strange that all of a sudden the flag has become so offensive, along with the American flag itself.
I dont own a Stars&Bars flag but if I did i would fly it to **** off. The nosy POS that are in cancel culture.
