They first have to see their city is broken before it can be fixed.
Evidently to a dem the city is A ok if there's lots of crime, high unemployment, dirty streets, big ghettos, homelessness.
Here in Los Angeles the city counsel is voting to close the central jail and defund the LAPD and County Sheriff's Dept. They do this so that there will be more criminals out to terrorize the public. They'll call it a success. A responsible, thinking person would see its broken.
They can't fix something they don't see as broken.
Rather than this being the usual rant about how horrible cities are, what are the five things you would do to improve them?
Or is this just the usual bash the Democrats thread?
1) Fire all Democrats
2) Change the culture of "everyone must have a college degree for they will flip burgers". Provide obtainable objectives and opportunity
3) Create a businesses 2 neighborhood training system to create opportunities and upward mobility
4) Recreate to education system away from 12 years of school before 4 to 8 more years of school. In its place, some in school training mixed with internships with businesses
5) Eliminate benefits for having children. Do not incentivize it
6) Have a stop and frisk all policy in high crime areas
7) Allow open carry and encourage gun ownership
8) Legalize drugs and prostitution. These are personal choices
9) Fire any teacher who teaches from a political point of view
What's the long term political gain of actually fixing large scale problems, assuming it's even possible? Hint - there is none.
For every problem that gets solved, regardless of how or by whom, the individual needs the government less, not more. For reelection, the people need to believe that they NEED the politician, and they don't believe in that NEED without problems.
Neither party fixes problems, they simply apply different curtains/blinds/doors to hide them behind. There's neither a compelling financial nor electoral reason for politicians to fix problems, but tons and tons of both to perpetuate them.
If you are the party of bigger (more obvious and plainspoken, not really dollar amounts) giveaways, why on Earth would you risk your political bread and butter on something silly like actually doing that which you promise?
So once again what is an example of a Republican lead city all these slams on the Dems whats an example of how it should be?
Suwanee Georgia, Buford Georgia, Peachtree City Georgia, Cumming, GA, Kennesaw GA, Marietta, GA, Woodstock, GA, Dahlonega, GA, Sandy Plains, GA, Baldwin, MO, Ladue, MO, Clayton, MO, Arnold, MO, Creve Coeur, MO, West Villages, FL, Boca Raton, FL, Delray Beach, FL, Jupiter, FL, Winter Prk, FL, Vero Beach, FL, Dublin Ohio, Hilliard Ohio, just to name .00001% of them I happen to be familiar with.
All affluent smaller cities that are out in the suburbs where the quality of life is so much better than in the inner cities that were destroyed by Dems.
The Republicans fled the Dem controlled cities for the suburbs, and started new smaller cities, many of which are growing rapidly, and could become the top 100 major cities of America's future.
The way they want to run their cities, they have just too much overhead. Not enough money since they give out most of it and line their pockets with even more of it. Corrupt local government isn't going to miraculously provide honest results.
That is quite true. The local government pensions alone has bankrupted cities (like Detroit), and will bankrupt many more before its all done. The gov't worker pay and benefit packages are now above the median American worker pay in the private sector. The headcounts in these cities are way overblown.
They cannot, because they think that fixing the problems requires more government regulation and control of everybody (not just the ones rioting and burning), and they think that people WANT that ballooning government control.
They will not, because they believe that having more problems increases the need for government regulation and control, and solving the problems will decrease that need. Thus getting rid of the need for liberals. And they are 100% against that outcome. So they won't try very hard.
And because of these two characteristics of liberals, their cities will remain broken.
In the end, it all collapses though, like it did in Detroit, and like it will in many other major Dem cities very soon..like Chicago, New York, & Philly. Isit possible to open up the urban voters eyes to the Lib scam?
There is nothing wrong with the physical structures in those cities- it is the people who live there.
Libs then flee these urban hell holes, only to infect normal areas like locusts. They do not seem to understand that THEY are what makes these places miserable.
Are the ALL lost causes? Can any be saved? Is it worth the effort, or we just keep fighting them every step of the way? I thinkif we started saving young single Mothers and their kids who are under 5 yrs old, and show them a better way, that if we are succesfull with enough of them, we'd have enough testimonials to get others to listen. Am I being overly optimistic and naive? I have those tendencies.

Most of them aren't paying attention. They're too busy putting food on the table, paying for heat, housing, transportation, etc. etc., to bother with what politicians are doing. They rely on brief glimpses, invariably delivered by the mainstream media, to "know" what's going on.
