NY needs to release his NY state tax returns for what legal purpose? I know they passed a law specifically allowing their Dept of Revenue to release them, but for what end?

And what is the specified and legitimate legislative purpose?

Quote:
Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the bill, dubbed the TRUST Act, earlier this month that allows the state Department of Taxation and Finance to release Trump’s tax returns after one of three congressional committees — the House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee and the Joint Committee on Taxation — provide a written request “for a specified and legitimate legislative purpose.”
Is this all because:

a. At one point Trump said he'd release them voluntarily - as is habit but not required - but then changed his mind?
b. House Democrats believe something "real" will be found, or they simply want to be able to leak salacious details?

Default SCOTUS - Trump Must Turn His Tax Returns Over to Manhattan D.A.

Breaking...

7-2 opinion, Roberts for the majority, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh concurring (making the two dissenters obvious).

Remanded, but result now foregone. Only question is how long the presidential foot-dragging can delay it.

Default Supreme Court says Manhattan prosecutor may see Trump’s personal financial records

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a New York prosecutor is entitled to see President Trump’s private and business financial records, ending an intense legal battle waged by the president to keep them secret.

Kavanaugh going against trump was a big surprise. Guess trump heard this was coming..he was yelling on Twitter about presidential harassment before the decision was made public.

7-2.
President is not above the law.

“Chief justice John Roberts wrote the 7-2 opinion that the president is not categorically immune from grand jury requests. Both supreme court justices nominated by Trump, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, sided with the majority.”

I didn’t vote, but based on the results, looks like quite a few people may be surprised and disappointed right now.
