The pro-life Republicans say that but what they really mean is that Planned Parenthood needs to be reformed.
"Abortion Stops a Beating Heart"
Republicans don't really believe abortion stops a beating heart. They believe that most women who have abortions and most abortionists are good people exercising their legal rights. It is just a small minority that abuse abortion that are really committing murder.
"Build the Wall"
Trump says he wants to build the wall but what he really means is that he wants money meant for other things to be re-directed to the border patrol.
"Abolish the Fed"
Ron Paul says he wants to abolish the Fed but what he really means is the Fed should be reformed.
"We are pro 2nd amendment gun rights without restrictions"
When we say we are pro gun rights without restrictions, we really mean we support people being able to only have single shot revolvers and hunting rifles. We are against people have any semi-auto or assault weapons. When we say we are pro-gun we really mean we are in favor of the assault weapons ban.
Democrats have to realize how ridiculous it sounds when they try to defend "Defund the Police" "Abolish the Police", ACAB, and "Abolish ICE" as not really meaning what the slogan actually says. Democrats would never accept it and would be pushing back passionately if Republicans said that their slogans didn't really mean what they said. It is dishonest and disingenuous to be throwing out phrases and slogans if you don't really mean what you say or don't have the balls to defend what you say.
Thats the biggest difference between Trump and the Democrats. You know what you are getting with Trump and you know that he means what he says. With the Democrats, you have no idea if you are electing the Democrat who literally believes in what he says or the Democrat who doesn't.
What we do know is too large of a reduction in police funding or abolishment before an adequate alternative is in place will be a disaster. Unarmed social workers responding to mental health or domestic disputes will last until the first social worker is shot, beaten, stabbed, kidnapped or raped by the person she was sent to help. Nothing will stop politicians with power who truly believe in what they say from trying to implement a bad idea.
The Democrats actually abolishing the police to keep their voters happy even if they don't have an adequate alternative is a scary proposition. Democrats who support Defund or Abolish with no detailed plan on what to do instead of the police should not be elected or re-elected to office. It is basic safety!
