Obama bashed Republicans, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh every chance he got.
Dubyah was a decently nice person who didn't really bash much and just got steamrolled by both parties.
Clinton bashed Republicans plenty.
GHWB didn't bash much and was pretty milquetoast.
Reagan torched the media, but was decently nice to Democrats because they were decently nice to him for the most part. Everyone was big spending, so they all got along mostly.
Nixon and LBJ bashed the crap out of people who disagreed with them.
And none of those people ever "united the whole country."
You clearly didn't start paying attention until Trump, I suspect.
Since at least the dawn of the Internet Age, the country has been wildly divided. And I mean with vitriol and hatred, divided. Pretty much started under Clinton, as he was the first POTUS of the Internet Age, and it's done nothing but get worse since. Trump isn't the disease...he's just another symptom. He's an exclamation point. Before there was Trump Derangement Syndrome, there was Obama Derangement Syndrome, which came after Bush Derangement Syndrome, etc etc. The Internet, great gift that it is, has melted brains and made the world polarized. Trump is indeed a caricature of many anti-Right tropes, no doubt, but he did NOT divide this country. It had been long divided with well established battle lines, trenches, etc since he was inviting the Clintons to his NYC soirees in the early 90s, and probably before that.
But now you want to lay it all at Trump's feet because you're ignorant of history. Whether that ignorance is willful or not, only you can answer. But I assure you, at no point in the 53 years I have been alive, has this nation been united about anything, certainly not politics.
