If I were dying of something I had laughed at others for taking precautions to avoid, I'm not sure I'd want my very last communication to be "When you see me in heaven don't sh*t yourselves you judgmental little pricks".

Still, a loss. i wonder if his friends (and he did seem to have a lot of friends) are taking medical advice more seriously now.

I thought the purpose of the mask was, not to protect yourself, but to protect other people.

He was hanging out in crowded pools and bars, likely with other non mask-wearers.

Very sad all around.

Right. He hung out with people who scoffed at mask wearing, and he caught it. Then he very very likely passed it around in the early stages of his contagion, when he still wasn't wearing a mask.

Nothing arouses a leftist more than a political rival dying a horrible death.

You do understand when you go for herd immunity there will be casualties? That is the nature of the "game". On an individual basis it is tragic, but on a societal level it is a very acceptable risk, and in the end, the only logical choice. Realize, even with a vaccine there are always casualties, but somehow we view that risk as acceptable. No get out of life alive.

It's horrible this happened but he wasn't healthy but overweight and he may have had underlying problems. RIP as he seems to have a lot of love from those he knew.

So if he had worn a mask, he still wouldn't have been protected, right?

He's not really a political rival, and I don't see anyone laughing or evoking Darwin, which you certainly do see a LOT on this forum.

It's sad. He gambled and lived long enough to fully realize he'd lost his bet.
