I see the 60's as the turning point, the biggest DOMESTIC evils of 1960 were not practically not there in 1970, the biggest DOMESTIC evils of 1970 were practically not there in 1960. almost every sickness in society today had it's birth in the 60's (really last for years in the 50's and early 70's)
I blame LBJ. He was a terrible president and implemented tons of long term disastrous policies.
Sure segregation ended under him but that was simply a well crafted political move to get the black vote - he had spent the prior 20 years in congress opposing everything similar.
Eisenhower received 40% of the black vote. Since LBJ it has been overwhelmingly democrat. One race voting almost solely for one party is terrible for the country.
Of course, like any decade the 90s had lots of problems with the likes of crime, drugs etc. but even still, overall, were the 90s the last really good decade? Now, as someone that grew up in the 90s I understand bias, but looking at how things have gone post-90s, could it not be considered the last really good decade to live in? In the 2000s we had of course, 9/11, which dominated the 2000s, then come the 2010s where it's all about erasing everything we knew about western civilization and all the crazy groups took control.
People could just focus on making good TV shows/movies without worrying about "offending" people over stupid stuff or being PC, when, as a young boy/man you weren't constantly shouted out for being horrible just because.
Again, sure the 90s were far from perfect, but wasn't it the last "chill" decade so to speak?
The 90's saw the end of the cold war and the terrorist attacks of 9/11 were yet to happen.
The 90's were a decade of hope for the future, and the next millennium, sadly this hope started to unravel soon after the millennium.
They were also a decade before social media and a lot of the related nonsense it has helped to spread, whilst politics were less radical and divided than today.
There were of course some problems such as the war in former Yugoslavia and conflicts in Africa however all in all the 90's were not a bad decade for the world as a whole, with the threat of nuclear war having largely disappeared compared to the forty years proceeding the decade.
The 90s was a wonderful decade for me and mine. Our business was booming, our older children were getting married and having our first grandchildren, and our youngest was a high school athlete. Good times.
In the first decade of the 2000s, 9/11, the economy tanked, our business failed, our oldest son got wounded in Iraq. I had cancer.
Thankfully, we’ve soldiered through. This is just how life goes. It has ups and downs.
I think most of the early 90s you could say that. It was just starting to get really PC and ridiculous after the mid-90s, but nothing like today. I'd say the 80s was the last good decade.
The 80s was the last decade for the Western man. After that, most things went to the dumpster. I cannot think of a single event in the past oh, 20 years or so that has been positive for Westerners or those who support Western ideals and civilization. I feel totally alienated in my own country because it is no longer my country. It was given up, it was handed over to alien forces who absolutely hate our guts.
Usually when you look back, the time that has passed almost always looks good. It’s sorta human nature.
Kids growing up now, will look back at 2010, 20 years from now, and will call it the golden era.
Yeah it is interesting to see how folks gloss over times in our lives as time passes.
I watched a documentary about 1968....we think 2020 was tough. I don't know how Americans survived Viet NAm War, Kent State, assassinations of MLK, JFK, and Bobby Kennedy. It really was awful
The United States began the 1990s drunk with confidence and patriotism after having won the Cold War which it had been fighting for over forty years. The new decade swept in a lot of the best of the 1980s: a truly diverse Pop Culture in music, TV, and films. People still socialized in person - actually speaking to each other rather than texting, played sports outside and sweated - not vegging out in front of a video, and played games with others at a table - not through a machine. Everyone was focused on exercise to improve their bodies, not plastic surgery, Botox and fillers. Society seemed to get along without racial tensions, SJWs or Cancel Culture. We were still a meritocracy, believing that only hard work and perseverance produced results, not playing the Victim or Race Cards. And the news was still news, not political propagandist rantings 24/7.
I point to Bill Clinton for when the United States ‘Jumped The Shark’ in the mid 1990s. He made the office of President a mockery because he couldn’t keep ‘it’ in his pants. ‘Slick Willy’ virtually ended the prosecution of obscenity cases, and porn exploded exponentially on the Internet. He signed NAFTA which cost millions of Americans their jobs and sent factories overseas, and his economic policy of ‘Disparate Impact’ in lending directly caused The Great Recession. His horrendous foreign policies are directly responsible for our greatest foreign threats of today: he did not stop Bin Laden, supplied North Korea with oil and nuclear reactors, and gave ballistic missile technology to China.
The 1990s was not the last great decade – that title goes to The 1980s, but it certainly was the last good one.

That is true. I was in high school in the 90s and even compared to now, at least you could make a joke without having your family harassed or fired from your job or college rescinding their admissions letter. I was never really all that Conservative but I always hated Bill Clinton's guts. Even in high school I would openly denounce him in my history class, to the horror of the teachers. Another good thing about the 90s was that you did not see murals everywhere preaching at us about how evil White men are and how good everyone else is. It is such utter BS what we are seeing today and I just tune out for the most part. The other day I walked past a house (a mansion, actually) and a lady was outside. She had a huge "Black Lives Matter" sign (again, a wealthy WHITE lady). I looked at the sign and just openly laughed. She glared at me viciously. Too bad I don't buy into the cult.
