Closer to 5% mortality rate for Americans over 55, but...

Even if you survive, you have a high chance of continued suffering from lung scarring, embolisms/stroke, heart damage, and neurological damage.

I would say you should wear a mask just in case, so at the very least you are not responsible for killing someone else, even if you are willing to risk dying yourself, but that kind of argument on works on empathic human beings. But who gives a **** about NPCs right?

So you're saying this was complaining?

It's just a feel good measure to keep you in compliance...wearing a burka is probably next!

FWIW, that's not a complaint...it's pointing out the absurdity of the masks.

The misinformation on this thread never ends.

MASKS PROTECT YOU- IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT KIND.

Not 100% - but much, much better than nothing. It is very easy to attain at least 80% protection with a surgical mask - all the way up to 95% if you're willing to deal with an N95.

Facts are so inconvenient:

Masks protect period, as evidenced by the results from that salon where over one hundred people were exposed.

“Two hair stylists in Missouri interacted with a total of 139 clients and six coworkers before learning they both had COVID-19 — thankfully, the stylists didn't pass the virus on to any of these contacts, according to health officials.
...
Health officials also conducted phone interviews with 104 of the 139 clients, and of these, 98% reported wearing face coverings for their entire appointment, while 2% report wearing face coverings part of the time, the MMWR report said. The type of face covering used by clients varied, with the majority wearing cloth face coverings or surgical masks, and a few wearing N95 masks.

"These results support the use of face coverings in places open to the public, especially when social distancing is not possible, to reduce spread of SARS-CoV-2," the authors of the MMWR report concluded. ”
