And? thats probably going to happen no matter what.

This attempt to force schools to re-open is utterly insane. Yeah the kids wont really die from it-maybe ten thousand or so dead kids all told, but they will spread it through the community in a unstoppable tidal wave. Which will cause millions of deaths. LITERALLY. How can folks not comprehend this? This is LOL stupid if it wasn't being led by our president and Devos.

Of course, because children really want their robot to love them and be proud of them.

I read it also. 15 pages of boilerplate progressive left wing rah, rah, rah......

It is a leftist teacher union, of course police and charter schools are "the problem". Of course there was a bunch of stuff about how many evil billionaires there are in Kalifornia also.

It is certainly the narrative though.

What happened to "Kalifornia is the 5th largest economy in the world, yadda yadda yadda........?

The paper repeatedly stated "more targeted federal funding". Always with the hands out for more.

UTLA should start banging the drum to repeal Prop 13 in Kalifornia. That is a feasible solution. Instant homegrown funding!

Let Kalifornia fund Kalifornia issues.

Plus, parents can't return to work with kids out of school, & the extended ramifications of that is much worse than any harm that might come to them in school.

Teachers and school workers over 50 are the vulnerable ones as schools re-open. They'll be dropping like flies of illness, quitting, & retiring.

I conducted a poll of employed Americans, and 100% of respondents voted to stay home, and be paid (like Teachers), rather than not return to work.

Let's re-poll the Teachers again..here's the poll questions:

1) would you like to stay home and not be paid

or,

2) return to work, and be paid?

Trust me, the results would be nowhere near 83% voting to stay home and NOT being paid.

TEACHERS...go to work, or quit now so we have ample time to replace you, before school starts. Sitting home, and getting paid, is no longer an option..that gravy train is over.
Again, most of the LA schools are in minority areas where there are multi-generational families. THey are also the most vulnerable group of minorities -- Black and Hispanic.

So while you may argue kids don't get as sick....they can spread the virus and bring it home. Also kids may have underlying issues.

And sure if the schools are closed the real possibility of all those teachers losing their income is of importance.

But we keep dismissing the need for proper strategies, funding, etc. to make sure the kids will be safe and the staff will be safe.

Kids need to be in schools. Parents need kids to be in school. We just have to be smart about it. We might adopt some of the standards in other countries where kids are back in school and the positive rate of cases is not growing.

But time, planning, resources are needed. Here in the south east, school is scheduled to open in three weeks. We are also seeing phenomenal rate of spread in some areas. Somehow we have to manage the spread and at the same time open the schools.

Remember -- the federal govt. is releasing prisoners from prison because of COVID and now we are pushing the kids into schools.

It is crazy.

The science says the exact opposite. Virtually no deaths and kids also spread it the least. We've become a nation of soft, gullible, alarmists.

Listen to the science, not the "experts," and certainly not the dominant media, which lines its pockets by scaring you with ideas that are not supported by the evidence.

The crazy part is releasing prisoners, many of them child molesters, not putting kids back in school. Virtually no risk with the kids reentering. Unsurprisingly, instead of decrying the release of prisoners and the genuine risks posed, people focus on the irrational, unsupported belief that sending kids back to school will results in "thousands" dead. Perhaps a part of this is that many of those folks voted for the cretins who decided that letting prisoners out was a good idea. You know, the "mass incarceration" boogeyman and the "disparate impact" folks?

Whites make up 85% of the midwest and 42% of NYC for example.

Do you have a study that reflects that or is it just ignoring the fact that urban parts of the US have been harder hit and that more of the population in those areas is minority?

Why are we paying taxes to fund public schools that aren't opened? Time for a refund.
