Wow Clara, that's a pretty bold statement, are you trying to group one set of people together based on a BRAND of food?

No. People at food banks, in my experience, often don't get to choose their food. They're often given a box of food depending on how large their family is. So no one there is choosing their BRAND of food. They'll get a standard box of staples.

And yes, illegal immigrants, in my experience, are very often receiving food from charity food pantries.

So, it follows that if you give 200K plus of Goya food to food pantries, a lot of it is going to end up going to illegal immigrants.

Hungry people are hungry people.

I just realized I had no idea how a pantry worked on the receiving end. I guess it makes sense. I sort of imagined it like a store with items on the shelves, but that seems like it would be chaotic if everything was priced at $0.

Very important cause! I hope you support Goya..
Can't - too much sodium in their beans. Oh well.

Maybe not all pantries work that way. I've volunteered at two and they both do it like this - it gets too crowded and kind of too confusing about what the recipient is entitled to, in what quantities, and no one wants to argue with a mom that she's taking an extra can of corn. So it's just easier to package them ahead of time.

I can't have the beans that often also because of potassium but I can have their rice! They also sell other products.

Welp, I checked the package labels on a lot of their products on Amazon and they all have sodium or carb levels that are too high for me. Their sweet stuff I remember (from before my heart attack) is sickeningly sweet, even if I could eat it now. I'll still pass.

Can you get the plain white rice?

Nutritious and gluten-free, Goya's white rice is delicious in side dishes and main courses, accented with vegetables, beans and spices.

Canilla Extra Long Grain Rice. 3 lb. ...
Jasmine Rice. 32 oz. ...
Arborio Rice. 12 oz. ...
Basmati Rice. 12 oz. ...
Basmati Rice. 2 lb. ...
Canilla Parboiled Extra Long Grain Rice. ...
Jasmine Rice. ...
Medium Grain Rice.

I know they also sell yellow but the sodium content from saffron might be too high. I learned a lot of tricks how to avoid high sodium. Get the Basmatti rice! It's delicious. I would still buy Goya products and donate to a homeless shelter just to support this great company.
