What are you talking about, “freedom of choice”?? What does that mean exactly?

Here is the first amendment it says nothing that would relate to masks:

“The First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Mask is form of speech.

1–masks can’t speak—have no sentient capacity or voice box or tongue
2-wearing a mask doesn’t prevent you from speaking
3-wearing a mask or not wearing a mask has become a symbol of protest is what you mean even though you couldn’t say it
4- government has ALWAYS had the right to protect citizens during times of pestilence/plague by requiring people to obey certain rules

In the early 20th century people were quarantined in their homes if there were cases of Diptheria or Cholera or other communicable diseases
They had to STAY THERE, post a sign warning anyone who came that there was infection, and had medical care come to them...
Typhoid Mary is the classic case of an asymptomatic carrier who could give the disease w/o showing symptoms herself—-
She refused to keep herself isolated when the local governments imposed that to keep her from spreading typhoid—a very communicable and deadly disease—until she was finally forced to live out her life under house arrest with guards so she could not leave...

Wearing a mask is a legitimate request/requirement for public health officials to make on citizens
The fact that it has become politicized by Trump and the alt-right as a “symbol” of freedom is totally different than taking a knee during the Anthem—-
No one can catch CoVid if someone takes a knee during the Anthem
Yet plenty of Trump supporters go ballistic when they see it happen

They don’t seem to have the same concern about spreading CoVid
Research shows that counties that went overwhelmingly for Trump in this election also have extremely high rate of CoVid infection
Ergo, logic says they were not wearing masks and passed the disease among themselves
They might be “free” but they are paying for it—hospital workers are paying for it—insurance companies or the government are paying for their treatment—their communities are paying for it by their exposure to non-mask wearing freedom lovers

What you wear, message that you have on your cloth etc is all form of speech. So yes it's form of speech and yes it's a way to protest.

So, why don't I hardly ever see people complaining they always wore their masks around people, but came down sick with COVID-19 anyway?
