The fear mongering media pushed people into a panic. The 2 weeks passed, and people were still locked down. Only "essential people" were to be out. Some were lucky and could work from home, but many could not.

When a business doesn't make any money because a governor told everyone to stay home, far longer than the stated 2 weeks, they have to let people go.

The 2 weeks turned into 2 + months. The majority of the businesses in this country are small businesses. Many of them cannot survive with minimal to no business for 2 + months. Either the employees had no work to go to, because the governors of your states declared those businesses "non essential", or the employer had to lay them off because they couldn't afford to pay the employees with barely or no money coming in.

The governors of each state decided what to lock down, how long to lock it down, and in some cases, open up "snitch" hotlines, and threatened arrest and heavy fines to those not following their orders.

Trump did not do this, the governors did. You want someone to blame? You talk to your governor, and ask them why they chose 1% of the people over 99% of the people.
Exactly. Great post!

I hope they get evicted. Because what Libertardians don't understand, people don't just starve in the streets, they loot and burn everything done. The more angry people are the better is what I always say. Comfortable people don't do anything.

Remains to be seen. The pattern is clear.

Republican administrations are not known for economic growth. The last Republican President who left the nation in better economic shape than he found it was Eisenhower.

Every Democrat since Eisenhower has left the nation in better or at least as good a shape as he found it.

Clinton handed over an economy that was going great guns. Federal surplus was paying down the national debt. Had Bush kept on track, the national debt would have been paid off.

Instead, Bush ginned up a war in Iraq and Afghanistan without any way to pay for it, and the economy crashed on his watch.

The economy was on a steady uptick when Obama left office. Trump claimed it was growing too slow and he could get GDP up in the 4% to 6% range.

Instead, the economy has steadily slowed down on his watch. GDP lucky to hit 2% some quarters.

Early last year, the inverted yield curve predicted a downturn in the economy. Sure enough, that's exactly what happen. Trumplicans try to blame this on Covid, but it was well on its way by the time that hit.

Since we are not doing all that great with Covid, it is unlikely the economy will recover quickly. Which means a lot of Aemericans will be homeless before this is all said and done.

The coddling leftist big government will provide for them all...right? Hasn't that been the central theme of liberal democrats for 50+ years? Big gov't will provide?

When they don't, who will the starving angry mob turn on first? The Dems in their midsts, or Pubs in DC?

Right now, they are destroying Dem cities, killing Dem children, & occupying Dem City Halls. That should act as a frightening foreshadowing of where the anarchy will begin. It will work outward from there, and meet increasing resistance, until it's put down.

After the flames burn out, so will have the liberal dem agenda, and their empty promises laid bare.

Can't speak for other communities but businesses are shutting down because of the virus.
Shopping at the supermarket sees a shortage of the oddest goods, seems manufacturing plants around the country being impacted by sick employees.

So landlords may evict people and then what......who is going to be moving into those apartments.

I've been saying the bolded for years. They also turn to lucrative forms of crime, like selling or mule-ing drugs....

Seriously...im not kidding. Thats their plan.
Once the billionaires are gone, then it's the millionaires, then it's property owners, then it's homeowners, then it's somebody with more in the bank than a social security check, LOL.

Wealthy Taxpayers Screaming About Lost Deductions Under Trump Tax "Cuts"

See what happened there?

The SALT tax deduction she took on her US 1040 for...

2017: $245,500
2018: just $10,000

The $235,500 over $10,000 she could no longer deduct in 2018 and going forward was taxed at her marginal rate, likely at 37% which would be an extra $87,135 in federal income tax. That's NOT a tax cut; it's a tax INCREASE on the rich.

To further illustrate the point, examples:

$150,000 household pays $15,000 in SALT.
Deduct $10,000. Taxed on that extra $5,000 at 22% marginal tax rate = $1,100

$1.5 million household pays $150,000 in SALT.
Deduct $10,000. Taxed on that extra $140,000 at 37% marginal tax rate = $51,800

There's a 10 times difference in household income and SALT between the two households, but the top 1%-er is paying about 50 times more in extra tax than the middle class household due to the new SALT deduction limit.

Understand? But Biden and the Dems want to repeal the tax cuts, including the $10,000 SALT deduction limit, and reinstate the formerly unlimited deduction. That's a HUGE tax break for the rich, thanks to Biden and the Dems.
Rich people are upset that they have to pay their fair share, and not have their taxes subsidised by lower-income taxpayers in other states.

I suspect we will also see a lot of doubling up.

Several of our friends took their aged parents out of assisted living facilities over Covid concerns.

Now, as the eviction moratoriums expire (some ended in June, most will expire the end of July) their kids are starting to move back home as well.

One friend in Wisconsin is caring for her mother as well as her mother-in-law. Her daughter and her two kids moved back home in June when her marriage fell apart. She says that while her daughter is a help with the two grandparents, it makes for a crowded home. Recently, her son called asking about moving back until he can get back on his feet. Yikes!

I suspect similar conversations are happening all over the country.

Yep. Exactly. Now, why on earth would Biden and the Dems shy away from requiring the rich to actually pay their fair share?
