Common sense I would think. I've been going outside for many months now even since the lockdown first started but wearing masks when required and maintaining social distance best I can. And I tested negative.

There's a common refrain that masks don't protect you; they protect other people from your own germs, which is especially important to keep unknowingly infected people from spreading the coronavirus.

But now, there's mounting evidence that masks also protect you.

If you're unlucky enough to encounter an infectious person, wearing any kind of face covering will reduce the amount of virus that your body will take in.

As it turns out, that's pretty important. Breathing in a small amount of virus may lead to no disease or far more mild infection. But inhaling a huge volume of virus particles can result in serious disease or death.

Of course it does. And it serves as a constant reminder to distance, as we are finding spending the summer in Portland. We came up from AZ where the virus is seriously surging. No doubt made worse with no masks or distancing.

This weekend I listened to this bozo explain in great detail how the Covid virus is so small that it passes right through masks.

I tried to explain about how the virus is transported in droplets which do get filtered by a mask. He wasn't interested. He'd read this on some RW website and he was convinced.

So have they gathered statistics from all positive and negative covid cases on the patients mask wearing habits, if their state/city mandated masks or not?

One nice thing about wearing or not wearing masks, makes it easier to identify the ignorant.

The present paper about masks illustrates the degree to which governments, the mainstream media, and institutional propagandists can decide to operate in a science vacuum, or select only incomplete science that serves their interests. Such recklessness is also certainly the case with the current global lockdown of over 1 billion people, an unprecedented experiment in medical and political history.
^^^ Seems unbiased and totally scientific to me
