Maybe, but you can lead states to cooperate in purchasing PPE, you can help negotiate testing contracts, you can do something other than deny there’s a problem and claim it’s all going to disappear without any action. That doesn’t run afoul of the Constitution.

Actually Obama had a pandemic task force group so the notion that a global pandemic was likely to happen has been around for a while and health planners and professionals were warning that it could happen. Trump was the one caught off guard and then he dropped the ball. "Better off" is not simply a glance at one's bank statement. The last four years have been smoke and mirrors and a huge con game. The recent tremendous failure in the stock market followed by a "miraculous" recovery in a matter of weeks while the nation experiences the absolute worst GDP in recent memory is a shell game and clearly suspect. Things were never fine unless you like stepping over homeless people, like watching young families struggle, like unprecedented income and wealth inequality, like tossing people off healthcare coverage, like crops rotting in the fields, and like a president who has no clue on leadership. I suspect Trump's golf game has improved...as with his lies, practice makes perfect.

Good points. Financial gain is a part of the picture but only a part. Trump's performance in office has been a failure on every level. He has been his own worst enemy and squandered any support he had in Congress the first two years. And, yes, the Democrats should have taken action sooner and with more authority to bring Trump into account.

If Hillary was president there'd still be 160,000 folks dead. You exaggerated there like the liberals do.

And the one who should have done something about it did nothing but sit on his fat ass and talk about what a stable genius he was. WHAT an incompetent, narcissistic putz!

Unfortunately, it is the truth. The current president chose to sit on the sidelines and keep referring to the current situation as a hoax and things would just go away basically to ignore it. Now over 161,000 people have died and there is no end in sight as the situation gets worse.

So keep referring to it as untrue all you like but that's what happened.

Went boating today and saw flags saying "TRUMP 2020 - No more BS"

It made me wonder.......... If Trump has been president for 4 years and the result is BS galore, then how will 4 more years make it go away.........

Maybe the flags sum up the mind of a Trump apologists.

Exactly, Obama had a pandemic task force but the current president chose to get rid of it. In addition the current president continued to indicate that the stockpile had been depleted yet he had over three and a half years to address the situation but chose not to so what has he been doing during that time?

The data on where things stood when Trump was inaugurated and where they stand today.

- By January 2017, the U.S. had successfully avoided a crisis with the H1N1 flu in 2009 and Ebola in 2014. In contrast, this country leads the world in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths, with almost 4 million cases and over 140,000 deaths. Even Trump has acknowledged that things will get worse before they get better.

- The unemployment rate when Trump took office was 4.7 percent. Today it stands at 11.1 percent.

- The federal deficit has ballooned from 3.2 percent of GDP in 2017 to 17.9 percent of GDP today.

- By the end of 2018, the percentage of people in this country who were uninsured had risen by almost three points for a net increase of about seven million adults.

What a load of crap!

I guess you forgot about that little global pandemic we are experiencing?
