It's pure theft.

"Investing" in poor Black communities is worthless. Its a Black hole. The individuals in those communities have enough federal programs available to allow each one to become a doctor of medicine if they do the work and help themselves.
We have already seen what investment in housing projects and public works in black communities achieved- nothing.

The only thing that can save black America is abandoning thier terrible culture which celebrates violence, lack of education, drugs, and no work ethic.

You can throw trillions of dollars at black America, but nothing will "work" until blacks realize that THEY are the problem that needs to be "fixed".

Asheville is undoubtedly the most liberal city in the state, FYI.

From the linked article:

The reparations won’t come in the form of direct payments to black residents — instead, investments will be made in areas that see racial disparities, the Citizen Times said.

That seems, to me, to be a reasonable approach to addressing the topic.
Ehh, these communities already get loads of funding. Seems like a bunch of fluff to me

Are you and SubjectBook the same poster? I directed that question specifically to him so...

Not true...they started a war that decimated the world for years and cost hundreds of thousands of American lives. Most guys my age had Dads that were killed, lost or injured by the Axis. And yet we rebuilt them...

If we're going down this ridiculous path, make them pony up and pay too..........

Other cities in North Carolina will follow quickly after this....Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham and Winston-Salem. They are much larger than Asheville and have bigger black populations.

But why not do something for the black communities? Its the least this country can do after its horrific treatment of blacks over the past 400 years (much longer than Germany's treatment of Jews and America's treatment of Japanese people.) The Native Americans have their reservations and can even legally build Casinos on those reservations in states that dont allow casinos and I believe Japanese people got reparations after World War 2 if I'm not mistaken. But its not just about slavery. Black alive people today have lived through the Jim Crow era and today's generation is being targeted by law enforcement. So this is not a situation where injustice only happened to slaves in the 1700s to 1800s.

Perhaps some arrangement could be made, with those getting the money, doing a few chores for those giving the money - housework, painting houses, gardening etc.

I just dont understand...how many people today are slaves? My father was first American born in my family, we had no,slaves. So are we responsible for something that happened so long ago? So do you believe in reparations?
So are we going to stop social welfare, EBT checks and section 8 housing?
That will save hundreds of billions of dollars to tax payer.
