Curly Q. in all your writing, about the accurate portrayal of negativity, I was still able to get a chuckle via your picture you paint.

Thank you for that. I needed it

I can finally say I will sleep better. Statues are the blame we are in this situation, I bet if we all try harder and get all of them removed all our problems will go away.

But no worries, after all statues are gone we can go after six flags.

Of course, this exactly what the far left wants. Just imagine how wonderful everything will be once we destroy all the evil wealth in the world.

I’m also not really buying into the “anti-Italian” take. I highly doubt that’s what’s on these protester’s minds...
Why do we insist on projecting modern morality on historical figures from 500 years ago? No matter who would have discovered the Americas, slavery would have been instituted. And I'm not sure Columbus had much to do with the slave trade either way, slavery was practiced nearly everwhere in the world in some form in his time. We will never be able to have statues of anyone if perfection is needed. People now want take down statues of Lincoln, Washington and Jefferson.

There’s a difference between being “imperfect,” and torturing, starving, and yes, raping people. Let’s not pretend that all he had was a minor character flaw. Columbus did not just have slaves, but brutalized & killed native populations and opened the passage for European exploitation of the Americas. Disagreeing with his actions in the Caribbean is not a new thing. Even King Ferdinand thought Columbus took it too far with his torture tactics and mistreatment of the Natives and had him imprisoned for it. So who’s really twisting the narrative?

If our society is going to be criticized for historical revisionism, it shouldn’t be for recognizing atrocities committed by Columbus & his men, but for brushing them under the carpet for as long as we have - and continue to do.

Apparently they do since Lightfoot caved to them. She is an embarrassment.

Don't like Columbus? No problem, get a petition together, go to the City Council of Chicago and the Park District, and state your case, maybe even get a referendum on it in the next major election. If you win, the statues will be taken down and sold to China for the scrap metal. I don't have so much a fetish for Columbus as I do the RULE OF LAW. Anarchy, rioting, vandalism, and arson are all things I take very personally, and want to stop these Marxist knuckleheads from carrying out more nonsense similar to what happened in Grant Park against the police. If the police won't (or can't) be counted on to maintain order in our state, then private citizens have the onus to do it themselves. Being individuals, like-minded people will be forced into guerrilla tactics themselves. Welcome to Lebanon.

BTW, the "cat's out of the bag" that this is a new "electioneering" tactic. Instead of fielding a candidate that can win on his own merits and policies, the Left is looking to "tilt" the November election through creating conflict and chaos designed to make "normal" people long for peace and quiet, enough so that they will placate the Mob by electing someone they can use as a puppet in their never-ending quest for power and control. Will the American people allow this to happen? Time will tell. What was it Ben Franklin said, when asked the purpose of the Constitutional Convention? Something like, "We have given you a Republic, if you can keep it". The absolutely BEST thing Americans can do for themselves right now, is to learn about countries that have been taken over by Socialists and Communists - learn how it was done, why it was done, and what the results were. More importantly, speak to immigrants (even undocumented) from other countries, and learn why they came here. Your future depends on it.
