There also some independent leagues with teams having no affiliations like the Frontier League. They cancelled the 2020 season due to Covid-19 but the American Association keep going but play a shorter season of 6 teams and 60 games. https://www.americanassociationbaseb...r-2020-season/

In the not so distant future you will see more Independent Minor League Teams popping up. The long range goal for MLB is to cut their Minor League affiliates down to 2 levels. AA and AAA. They will rely more on colleges to develop the younger guys.
This years draft was cut down to 5 rounds because of Covid. You will never see the usual 40 rounds ever again. Next year if things are close to normal it will be 20 rounds at most and will gradually decrease each year after.

Yep, forgot about the community aspects.

Amusingly, #BoycottMLB was trending on Twitter today

And hockey currently tried to follow baseball model with 2 levels (AHL/American League and ECHL/East Coast Hockey League) or 3 if we count the SPHL (Southern Professional Hockey League) and the various seniors and junior hockey leagues besides collegial hockey. It could be interesting to see if hockey will follow the same pattern.

If basketball follow the MLB as well, what'll happen to the G-League?

Why can't we watch sports without any political/social message? Isn't that the whole purpose of sports?

MLB and the NBA are somewhat moving in opposite directions. NBA will eventually do away with the "One and Done" and bring more HS kids directly into the G league, where as MLB will encourage HS grads to play college ball.
You will also start to see MLB teams recruiting college coaches right to the Majors. College coaches never leave to coach or manage in the Minors as the pay is significantly less.
