You may want to do some research.....illegals cost our country FAR more than they contribute. I could do it for you, but don't be lazy...do it yourself.....

It's fair enough if you want only citizens and perhaps legal permanent residents to be counted. However, they simply aren't going to be able to redesign it to build a comprehensive and reliable dataset after the Decennial is already underway. As far as I'm aware, the Census Bureau doesn't even have a database of citizens or legal permanent residents and the law ensures the privacy of individual responses from other use by the Federal government, so another agency couldn't even mine the data to build a count of only citizens. You'd have to fight for changes in law/design for the 2030 Decennial Census and/or how the data from the Census is used for decision-making.
I'm reposting this for all the people who are simply too thick to understand that the Census Bureau simply lacks the capability to change the design of the 2020 Decennial, which was based on its statutorily mandated objective, to build a reliable data-set that filters out illegal immigrants within the time-frame that's statutorily mandated.

Shall we count people flying over in an airplane? Makes as much sense as squatters not supposed to be here. If someone breaks into your house until they are evicted isn't a "roommate" or a resident. How stupid are these people.

The only thing I can think of is they are offspring of illegals or they are actually here illegally. Nothing else makes any sense at all.

So to these people ADIOS.

"Respect for the law and protection of the integrity of the democratic process warrant the exclusion of illegal aliens from the apportionment base, to the extent feasible and to the maximum extent of the President's discretion under the law," Trump said in the brief document.

They're illegals. Illegals should be entitled to nothing. Illegals should not be counted in the census. This shouldn't be a difficult concept to understand.

and, it certainly has been useful for genealogy purposes..... why are liberals against honesty

The last time a citizenship question was asked was 1950. Nothing precluded anyone from identifying as a citizen when they were not.

There seems to be some confusion between the short and long form. Only 1/6 households received a long form. It was phased out after the 2000 census in favor of the American Community Survey which is an ongoing survey not limited to Census years.

The Obama Admin made no changes relation to citizenship Questions, as a few here have claimed.

Not only that but the poster called them plain ole "immigrants", lol! Such dishonesty on their part. Here are the stats. Illegal aliens cost us over $100 billion a year while they contribute only $19 billion in taxes not to mention the billions they send back to their homelands.
