I think seniors are turning on Trump largely due to Covid-19 and it showing how bad healthcare in this country really is. Trump said he would get a new healthcare plan, this has not happen. He didn't have a plan and reverted to basically legacy healthcare. Covid-19 is effecting a lot of people. The elderly in particular and also their children or perhaps grandchildren. It seems like Trump doesn't care about them and their families.
As for white professionals with college degrees, it can be a lot. It can be that they are scratching their heads with Covid response. It could be social justice issues since more college educated people tend to be more liberal on social issues. It could be the Trump response to social justice campaigns. It could be how the PPP rolled out and worked against many small businesses.
An analysis of national polls reveals that seniors and college-educated, white voters are disaffected with Trump. Lets review Trump’s report card and come up with reasons for which these groups are running for the nearest exit on the Trump train.
I am a conservative physician who has been, and still am, a Trump supporter. Essentially all of my friends are fellow physicians and I only know of one who is a Biden supporter.
I actually do not think Trump is losing much support. I think what is happening is the fence sitters and non-voters from 2016 are weighing in and picking a side in 2020. Trump won with about 46% of the vote. In other elections 46% meant a candidate was getting trounced in the EC but in 2016, Clinton's problems as a candidate allowed 46% to be a winning hand. If Biden peels of 2 of 6% who did not go main party or simply expands the voter pool, Trump will be in trouble without losing any of his previous supporters.
Exactly. Trump's Covid response has been an absolute disaster, and seniors don't like to be used as cannon fodder to reopen the economy. Trump has been so cavalier with the lives of seniors. They'll remember him and the other Republicans this November. BTW, I'm a senior and an AARP member. I'm voting straight Democrat. Trump is a disgrace.
