Every single BLM supporter in my area that I've seen has been WHITE: both touting their support on social media and participating in the real life marches. I live in a very diverse area that's about 40 percent nonwhite (most of whom are East and South Asians, some Middle Easterners, some Hispanics, and a few African Americans) yet at the BLM march on the streets, it was nothing but white faces. Before this year, almost all BLM marches were largely Black in Black areas. Do you think that this sudden support for BLM from Whites is partly due to the boredom of being locked in from the pandemic or out of real concern for police brutality against African Americans?
Yes, there are scores of white BLM supporters. TBH, I believe people are not only protesting due to police brutality against Black people but also due to their displeasure with the state of the nation in general.

Not too many black people have "white guilt". How could they, when (they think) they are victims?

I think they are doing it because they have been quarantined at home, they don’t have school or work to get up for in the morning, and it’s the thing to do. Frankly, it’s annoying because these privileged white kids are making it about them - I still haven’t gotten over the idiot white girl yelling at the black cop about black lives mattering.

Thank you: it's nice to hear from an older Black woman who has experienced racism when it was far worse than it was now. As a dark skinned millennial Indian who doesn't fit neatly into the "White privilege" or "Black descendant of Jim Crow oppressed" box, I will always be looked as an outsider when it comes to these debates. They are telling me that my dark skin isn't enough to empathize with Blacks because I haven't experienced the same things you have.
The issue boils down largely to black vs. blue, not black vs. white, so it's entirely reasonable for white people who also oppose law enforcement violence and overreach to support BLM. They may genuinely care about the situation purely due to morality, or they may have loved ones who are black that they want to support. Also, it's not like white people are immune to police brutality or an unjust legal system, they're just affected at a lower rate, so it's easily a common cause.
I'm sure there are some derps out there just because it's trendy or they're bored or whatever, but not everyone is that vapid.

I agree, but with whites making up the majority of the country and the vast majority of law and policy makers, I don't think a political movement can get meaningful traction without some white support. Unfortunately, some of these dummies are going to come along for that ride.
