Ditto, when we moved into a newly-built neighborhood 23 years ago. There never has been a polling place for this neighborhood. I have been offering my garage as a polling place for every election year in the 23 years we have lived here. And every time they have replied, "Thanks, but we have determined that your polling place is not needed", or words to that effect.

So every election year, I take my wife's ballot and mine, duly signed et. al., and drive a mile or so into the older neighborhood areas and drop them off at one of their polling places on Election Day. A fully legal procedure.

Bravo. Except... how do you know there will be any? California has gone fully mail-in, according to the Governor. To keep us safe from Covid-19.

What reason would they have to set up ANY of the regular walk-in polling places?

I will be voting by mail for the first time ever this year. I'm certain I'm not alone. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more mail in votes this year than in-person.

Most governments allow mail-in ballots to be dropped off in the government Election Department offices into a drop box specific for those ballots. This way you can avoid voting lines and ensure your ballot makes it to the destination.

That state already has the fingerprints with the DL. A place on the ballot could be provided for a fingerprint.

Some are weary of IDs because of those who have a hard time getting one.

If 1/2 as much time was spent trying to get a way for those people to obtain an ID as was spent fighting it, we'd be in good shape by now.

I've voted by mail for about seven years now. I try to get it done within the first few days I get it done and mail it back in ASAP.

My county uses $10 an hour clerks to verify signatures on the mail in ballots.

My signature changes with the pen I use.

If the clerk determines the signature is invalid, they don't count it.

???

For as long as I can remember, the Post Office pledge has been that 1st Class Mail within the United States will always be delivered within three business days.

When was that cancelled?
Since Trump appointed his crony who has ordered that first class mail be delayed.

That stinks. I know my handwriting has gotten worse because I hardly ever write. We pretty much do everything electronically.
