“"COVID-19 has ravaged Florida, with more than 237,000 people testing positive and 2,013 dying from the virus in July alone.”

So what characteristic do all of the reports share? They are all false.

It is not true that 173 people died from COVID-19 “in a day” in Florida. Nor did 134, or 156 on previous days.

It is also untrue than 2,013 had died in July when that story was published.

All of these scary headlines are based on the number of deaths reported by the state on any given day. This is not the same as the number of deaths that occurred on those days..."

Chart shows that 19 actually died on the day 173 were reported. 44 died on the day 140 were reported. The deaths went all the way back to January 27th.

From the Florida Dept. of Health website dated July 23, 2020.
Florida Department of Health Updates New COVID-19 Cases, Announces One Hundred Seventy-Three Deaths Related to COVID-19 ~385,091 positive cases in Florida residents and 4,777 positive cases in non-Florida residents~ | Florida Department of Health

"There are a total of 389,868 Florida cases*** with 5,518 deaths related to COVID-19."

5,518 deaths in FL from Covid may not be a lot to you, but it certainly gives me pause.

My father lives in Florida and was in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid. He decided to go for the test, filled out the paperwork, and waited for 1 hour to be called to take the test. He just decided since he didnt have symptoms to leave and not take the test. To his surprise results came back in the mail he tested positive having never taken the test.

Also - that site is a subsidiary of Investor's Business Daily, the highly intelligent people who managed to announce that Stephen Hawking "wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the [British] National Health Service (NHS) would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless".

Let's just say there's an agenda.

And totals aren't influenced by the date they're announced. Math. Except for the fact that, if the announcements are late, the posted totals are lower than the actual death count. Also math.

I guess they know their audience.

Then riddle me this Batman. Why would the Republican Governer DeSantis instruct the Department of Health he is in complete control of (I have direct knowledge of this) to hold reports of deaths until now? Only two reasons I can think of:

1) the health Dept. is dysfunctional and screwed up the reporting (a real possibility)

2) DeSantis purposfully sandbagged the numbers from April and May to ensure he could reopen the state on Memorial Day. Now hes just dropping them back into the count, (another real possibility).

Either way DeSantis a Republican Governer is doing something screwy here and it dosent make much sense, if your article is accurate.

The article does not state how the writer of the article verified their numbers on those dates either. Quite frankly the article makes no sense given DeSantis would make himself and the President bad, if the article is accurate.

OP is quoting his fake-news site. He sleeps better at night by aligning with his(or her) alternative facts.

Too meek to face reality, the Trump-base relies on their own candy-coated version of the world. By the time they wake up, it will be too late, sadly too late for all of us. Much like the mask deniers, their inability to accept reality will have consequences for all of us.

Also, don’t forget the fact that the Florida’s very own dept of health is reporting that in the first 6 months of 2020 we had more regular old pneumonia (non-COVID) deaths than we did the last 5 full years combined, which means by year end we may magically have as many in 2020 as we did the preceding decade combined. If that’s not blatantly hiding deaths i don’t know what is. I guess when you have a population full of millions that has the IQ of squirrel and get their stats and news from memes on politically slanted (this goes both ways) Facebook pages I shouldn’t be surprised that you can hide literally thousands of deaths in plain site.

They are not going to believe any facts or any numbers until it hits home . Until then it’s a big carrot in the sky. I stopped trying. Can’t get blood out the turnip or common sense out of a rock.
