you agree that would require more money?

All Republicans - tell us whether you would favor more police training, knowing it would cost more money.

Me: Yes.

Many cops have already gone through years of training having spent time in the military but of course that type of cop that has been trained to function in highly stressful dangerous situations is not the type of cop that the Democrats want. They want ones that will be more like social workers that will talk down a violent suspect.

I know if some loon is running around the neighborhood attacking people and damaging property I'd rather have a tough cop that will stop that threat quickly versus a social working cop that will follow along pleading that he understands the guys frustration but he can help if he will only accompany him to a safe place to talk it out.

Being a cop is a tough job and the career is not one that people enter to dabble in. The majority do it to help their communities and no matter what the Democrats tell us, very few join the Police to shoot black people and beat up on minorities.

The training never stops.

Isn't that crazy!

Here in NC, the classroom hours (640) + training requirement for a cop are ~1200 hours. For a barber, ~1,500 hours.

We always compare "it takes less time to become a _______ than a hairdresser."

Maybe the answer is a lower barrier to entry/more competition to become a hairdresser?

Maybe that's the problem. If cops act like and are perceived by the community as an occupying force, that works against the broader goals of public safety due to community distrust.

100 percent agree, with STRICT oversight. Without that, what will happen is “we’ve done a complete audit and review of our training standards, and have found that we meet or exceed their stated levels”, translation: ”We looked at it ourselves, everything is fine, we will now use these funds for more SUV’s or aviation assets, etc..”. So yeah, strict oversight with uniform goals/standards nationwide.

Ever heard of Rwanda? Ever heard of the Uighurs in China? Read about the rapes in Sweden?

Virtually every major country has racial problems.

Police have to be tough here because we have more violent criminals than in Europe.

Some of the areas they patrol are no better the Iraq. They should have all the Military training they can get....
