This has been going on for years!!!!!!! Move along folks, there's nothing new to see here.
There is, actually. The thread title understates it. This isn't about gay rights, or any of the other culture war issues that have been fought over the last few decades. These people want to literally "abolish" the family as the basic unit of society in favor of communes and "villages". The ideas are not new but the power dynamics are. It's not just a few campus radicals behind this now.

The group Black Lives Matters acknowledges their official position stating that they intend to "disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and 'villages' that collectively care for one another, especially our children."

Shouldn't this all come back to individual freedom?
If a group wants to live together as a village, that should be allowed.
If an individual family wants to live separately, that should also be allowed.
This all but confirms the misuse of the term privilige. A privilege is a something granted to some people arbitrarily. Being a decent parent is nothing arbitrary its earned and fought for and yes, it makes you better than some deadbeat that cant take care of their kid

Few object to people living in communes if they choose. So no, this isn't really about rights and freedom. It's about encouraging communes and discouraging family units.

Not getting the difference. Anyone is free to encourage or discourage anything they want. That's free speech.
Ultimately it comes down to individual choice.
As long as people have the freedom to choose how they live, that is what matters.

It's one of those "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" situations. Single-parenthood is among the greatest objective predictors of multigenerational poverty. Advocating for it, and in addition suggesting (falsely) that a nuclear family is emblematic of white supremacy is both destructive and deranged, even if it's legal to promulgate such a message.

Not getting the difference? Really? Come on, you seem like a smart enough guy.
Like I said, few object to communal living for those who choose that. And nobody is calling for advocates of "abolishing the family" to be silenced. Freedom of speech and choice is a given, or should be. So that isn't the issue at all.
Do you defend abolishing the family? If so then make your case. Nobody's stopping you.
