Here's what the studies don't yet show. They haven't looked at whether the vaccine prevents someone from carrying Covid-19 and spreading it to others. It's possible that someone could get the vaccine but could still be an asymptomatic carrier. They may not show symptoms, but they have the virus in their nasal passageway so that if they're speaking, breathing, sneezing and so on, they can still transmit it to others.

This is the main reason why we can't stop wearing masks right after we get the vaccine. The vaccine will protect you from getting ill and then ending up hospitalized. But it's possible that you could still carry the virus and be contagious to others. So those who get the vaccine should still be wearing masks and practicing physical distancing.

Hopefully, this will help some of you understand where we are in this plague and vaccinations

There is also the possibility, that some mask haters will claim they had the vaccine, when they did not, to avoid mask mandates. Similar to those who lie about health conditions in order to avoid a mask. So masks will be around for a while.

Bring the positivity rate below 1%(currently 11.4%) and try to keep nationwide daily deaths below 10(currently 3000), before we can take masks off and begin a slow but steady approach to normal.

Studies also show no one has any idea if these vaccines will do a damn thing LOL. Especially since reports are now coming out of Europe, more unidentified strains are popping up all over the place there. This was nothing but a quick cash grab for corporate executives and “feel good” narrative for the general populace. There’s a reason legit vaccines take 5-10 years to develop and not 8 months. People think they seriously created a miracle vaccine in less than a year to the biggest plagues since the Spanish flu? Gimme a break

To be fair, never before has there been so much effort and resources put into a vaccine before due to how essential and urgent this is. Also previously, it took longer to test the effect it on subjects, but since Covid-19 is very widespread they can speed up the process, along with health boards and governments expediting a lot of the traditional time consuming paperwork. It should be totally fine, but I understand the caution behind it, which is why I wouldn't take it until a few months in just to be safe, and so more essential people can get it before me.

Actually - my cousin and his wife, both of whom are around 65, took part in the Moderna vaccine clinical trials last July. They were delighted at the opportunity, and now are immune to Covid-19, from every single indication. Moderna's vaccine seems to have around a 95% success rate, as does the Pfizer vaccine. Who in their right mind would reject that??

Having been a Polio Pioneer way back when, I certainly plan to get the vaccine at the first opportunity, and probably feel pretty much the same urgency as did the parents of those two million other Polio Pioneer kids, back when I was seven years old.

Quite possibly, and it will be treated the same way. This is why we get flu shots annually. They're tailored to fit whatever version(s) of influenza is/are expected to be most common in the forthcoming season. No reason the same cannot be done with Covid-19, once the present pandemic is tamped down.
