So a update for folks. The Oregon State police showed up Friday. And...weird..the violence pretty much stopped. Crowds are tiny in comparison to the past.
Almost like when you dont spend your time brutalizing people they arent as angry.
So what was different? The OSP communicated that tear gas would only be used if a riot was declared. The Fed and police used "unlawful assembly". OSP did not use tear gas in the prior 2 nights.
Inside the OSP officers were told to de-escalate. Body cams are required to be on at all times when dealing with folks. Badge numbers are not allowed to be covered as the Portland cops did. The day before heading up they all went over a do and dont list. And were advised that if they saw someone from PPD or the feds assaulting someone they should arrest them. And finally...they're showing up wearing just bullet proof vests as they usually wear, not up armored.
More importantly? The OSP has not used less then lethals targeting press, medics, and anyone they could.
Weird. When thugs who dont want to let you protest leave, and people who will protect your right to protest show up...things calm down. Will it stay this way? Who knows. But its far different now that people dont get assaulted non stop by those who should protect them, its definitely a changed environment. Not perfect-I have some issues with what I saw that I think folks should be arrested for. But 100X less violent.
LOL. OH noe a unlawful assembly! Such horrific criminals. Fun fact, the cops beat up a press member as well.
But you are right, people are still angry about how Portland police have behaved. But the last 2 days have been the first time tear gas hasn't been used. And used in such qty that the state is literally making Portland measure ground water quality because no one has ever used this much tear gas in such a small area for months in order to stop people from using their right to protest. But really if your idea of bad is some tires reportedly got slashed, and a bottle got thrown.....this is some of the best nights in months. Those sort of things occur on a daily basis in small towns.
As long as they've stopped throwing large incendiary bombs, stabbing people and hitting people in the head with hammers, I'll call it a win.
I think we all want everything to just calm down. Hopefully that's actually happening.
Would love to see how Greywar would react if it was his house being attacked, if it was his vehicle having the tires slashed, if it was his family having bottles , an whatever else being thrown at them.
Obviously he is comfortably far enough away from it all to ever have to live with the consequences of his yammering walls of text.
Tonight the crowd gathered in front of The Multnomah Sheriff Office where they threw glass bottles at police. One bottle smashed on an officers head and an unlawful assembly was declared. The crowd was pushed out onto the streets where they headed into a residential neighborhood. They proceeded to slash tires and throw garbage cans around. The Portland Police was able to push them back into public streets.
I don't see things calming down, its only being directed against local police now.
I really think its time to call in The National Guard.
LOL. "I'll take Greywar is wrong again for $1000 Alex"
He's still voting blue no matter who just like all the other idiot voters in Portland who elect the idiot mayors and city council who allow this kind of crap to go on in the streets.
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

THIS is exactly the scene our founding fathers had in mind when they created the 2nd Amendment. Where are all the gun nuts when it's 2nd Amendment time?
Where are you going with this? How can 'saying something' result in getting beaten and pepper sprayed? This isn't North Korea, at least not yet. But why don't you tell us what Chris David did to get pepper sprayed and sustain fractures? Bring it on...I can't wait to hear your excuse. https://fox59.com/news/im-not-made-o...s-in-portland/
"**** you, you'll have to beat me to leave."
"Come one foot closer to me and I'll kick your ass.", or perhaps better "If you stormtroopers don't leave in 10 seconds, I will come kick your ass." Your choice.

There's clearly more to the story. Police don't just start beating peaceful people for fun.
What was happening around him? What were other protesters doing? Were there people being violent at the time? What was law enforcement doing at the time? What were their orders to the crowd at the time?
By the way, ignoring a lawful order to disperse or step back away from a riot line is against the law, empowering law enforcement to act.

and I've said I was glad it was being investigated. And that it certainly seemed they should have just arrested him, not strike him with a baton.
