Back to the subject:
Another far-left lie, now being echoed by media everywhere: "GDP dropped 32.9% last quarter!" Umm, it was 9.5%, guys

The GDP dropped 9.5% in the last quarter, but none of the usual Fake News outlets have said that. Instead, they are screaming that it dropped 32.9%!

How desperate are the Democrats, that they can announce such a flagrant (and easily debunkable) lie publicly?

A 9.5% drop is bad enough, though pretty much expected after Covid hysteria caused various far-left governors to shut down their states' economies for months.

US economic decline is worst in modern records

ABC News/Associated Press
Updated: July 30, 2020 10:52 AM

The U.S. economy declined 9.5% in the second quarter of 2020, according to new figures released Thursday.

The decline computes to a 32.9% annual rate in the April-June quarter, when the viral outbreak shut down businesses, throwing tens of millions out of work.

You see, now, why people should never watch or read fake news. The left simply reeks of desperation.

you precisely asked me to point it out. And you are of course being absurd. The Trump administration was the source of the number which was simply reported by the media.

So the news release from the BEA is actually the source of the number.

As you can see, when you catch these liberals in a lie, all they can do is keep repeating the lie and hope somebody eventually believes them.

The media, of course, did not report what the "administration" said. As I have repeatedly pointed out, many of the media outlets simply said that the GDP had fallen by 32.9% in the 2nd quarter, without ever mentioning "annualized rate" or any other qualification which would have brought it closer to the truth.

Ever since, the liberals have been desperately running away from the facts, and trying to pretend all the outlets said "annual rate" when many didn't.

That is true only in right wing biased minds. The high end press reported it exactly. In fact the NYTimes in one article led with the quarter to quarter number you love.

But go back and find me some of the 2019 numbers as reported in the right wing press. Let use see how many include the quarter to quarter number. On a quick check I did not see any...but perhaps I do not know where to look.

Simply, utterly, totally and completely pathetic. Once again, the agency which calculates and publishes the figure is the one who came up with the -32.9% figure. You're blaming the media, but all they are doing is repeating what the BEA themselves said ... which is what they always do.

....they inevitably dig around until they find outlets that say both 9.5% and 32.9%, explaining the difference (like the one in the OP that I said was correct)? And then they try to pretend that all media outlets are doing it right?

Telling the truth is just not in their agenda. Especially when caught red-handed.

The same liberals fanatics, repeating the same dodge over and over: "Quick, let's change the subject to something he didn't say, and try to pretend he said that instead. Maybe we can fool somebody into believing NO outlets carefully reported it as misleading. We don't care if many did, we just want voters to believe our posturing and fakery is true."

As I've said before, these people are SO predicable in their futility....

And some of the right wingers continue to raise stupidity to higher and higher levels.

The media simply quoted a Trump administration news release. And try as you might virtually every rational person would understand that is the source of the number.

It's 32.9 annualized right?

Did you mean to leave that out of your thread title?

In every single previous incidence, the media reported GDP growth the same way they did this last time.

For example, in April of last year when Q1 GDP came out, we had Trumpies broadcasting threads like this:

1Q19 GDP Expands 3.2%

The CNBC article that person linked was headlined as thus:

"US economy grows by 3.2% in the first quarter, topping expectations"

The headlines back then did not have the word "annualized" in them then, so why should they this time? And the fact that you don't like the number is not an answer.
