yes and also agree with the poster above who talked about holding down a person when they are freaking out from drugs.
I was once a security guard for one of the gay community's parties, so they had a bunch of us watching over things, they knew there was going to be potential drug overdoses.
So i actually witnessed one man who was so violent from a drug cocktail (not sure which drugs) well this person was being held down on a table, and he all of a sudden shot up and knocked out the light bulb above him. Wow, that shocked me watching that. 4 strong men were holding down this one average body man and wow.. it was eye opening.
Plenty of people care and in fact, this has been all over the so-called liberal media. Police brutality in this country is an epidemic. For people who have been saying they're for small government and hoarding guns in case of government tyranny, I don't see you people doing anything now that government tyranny is here.

Courts to lenient, plea bargaining, 1 day off your sentence for each day of "good behavior", should be 1 day ADDED for each BAD day of behavior. Many repeat offenders have said it is better INSIDE then what they have OUTSIDE, so thy are NOT afraid of going to jail.
A "penal" system is to PENALIZE. When they DON'T think it is much of a "penalty", they have no fear being set there. Jail time is too "soft", compared to other countries, like so many always want to compere us to.
There have been cases of black dudes meeting ill fate at the hands of the cops that I haven’t heard about. It is true the ones that receive the most headlines are black men, but not very black man receives that much coverage.

Black on white crime is greatly higher then white on black crime, and the LACK or coverage when whites are the victims is the issue.
Good points. The police is needed, but dirty, abusive, racist cops need to be weeded out. The problem is the media has turned this into a b/w issue. If you are a white victim, the media won't be as sympathetic.

Yea, it is messed up that there isn't more media coverage of this. I have always said that they should be covering these incidents more in the media. People need to know that police brutality isn't something that only affects black people.
It is just weird that you compared the two. The two situations aren't exactly analogous, even though I condemn what happened in both situations.

Most people form their opinions on these things by what they see on TV, If it is ALL bad......!
What does being an advocate for the homeless have to do with not wanting to see someone be beaten to a pulp by the police? I do think the poster can find some alliance in what the BLM movement advocates for. They actually advocate for specific training when one is dealing with a disturbance related to a homeless person. Call this a social worker or what not, but they advocate for someone who has training to de escalate the situation and knows how to deal with the homeless who may have mental health issues.

I think so too. I think diverting the budget from buying these military surplus items to arenas that actually address social ills would be beneficial. We definitely need to re examine the way we do policing in our society.

Public housing projects, instant slums not only in the projects but the ENTIRE neighborhoods near them, crime so bad the police only go in the next morning to oversee the picking of the bodies, etc.

Tiger Woods made it clear when the media wanted to label him as back, that he was only 1/4th black, for monetary reasons. The black community STILL call him one of their own. They shouldn't. That is due to inadequate staffing. obviously if the ratio is 3 psych technicians to 30 patients, people are going to get hurt.
