Okay #1- why do any sports teams get 'tax breaks'. Screw that.

#2- The (R) state legislator said this-

Quote:
"By kneeling during the playing of the national anthem, the NBA and its players are showing disrespect to the American flag and all it stands for. This anti-patriotic act makes clear the NBA's support of the Black Lives Matter group and its goal of defunding our nation's police, its ties to Marxism and its efforts to destroy nuclear families.
Umm... what? How does it promote Marxism or destroy 'nuclear families'? Plus are you concerned about the flag or people? Numbskull comment.

#3- an NBA player, Jonathan Isaac responded, quite eloquently and the state congressman should take note-
Quote:
"I don't think that kneeling or putting on a T-shirt for me, personally, is the answer. I feel like for me Black lives are supported through the Gospel. All lives are supported through the Gospel. That we all have things that we do wrong, and sometimes it gets into a place of pointing fingers about which wrong is worse.

"I feel like the Bible tells us we all fall short of God's glory, and at the end of the day whoever will humble themselves and seek God and repent of their sins that we could see it in a different light—see our mistakes and people's mistakes in a different light, see people's evil in a different light. And that it would help bring us closer together and get past anything that's on the surface that doesn't really deal with the hearts of men and women."
The republicans (you know- the 'religious' party or so they say) should take heed of the gospels they so preach but fail to act on. This player has it right. Sad that the party loyalists who claim to be on the side of God, don't.

Yes- I think the teachings of the Gospels should be adhered to as well. There wouldn't be so much animus (as displayed by the legislator) if they walked the walk.

And yet another group that should have remained non-political learns the hard facts of life:

If you take money from the government as some kind of "favor" (tax breaks, etc.), it's like selling your soul to the Devil. Forever after, THEY OWN YOU. They can always threaten to take away the money, and (long after the first favor was granted) start dictating demands and rules whether you like it or not.

"That government governs best which governs the least, for its people will then discipline themselves."

The funny thing about this is that Clay Bennett who is the majority owner of the Thunder is a pretty hard core conservative himself.

I agree, but maybe that should apply to all corporations, too?

Typical, though, for people who don't understand why players are kneeling during the anthem. This guy is just a shade more hyperbolic than most.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

They get tax breaks to incentivize them to stay since they bring a lot of money into the city and the surrounding businesses. If not for them, your local taxes would probably be higher.

Probably not a good idea to threaten a team that left one city for the same reason. LOL

They will be the Louisville Thunder playing at the KFC Center, or Kansas City playing at the Sprint Center in a year and a half.

Okay #1- why do any sports teams get 'tax breaks'. Screw that. NO! Don't screw that! The Republican legislator should keep his damned mouth shut, because bribing with tax breaks and enhancing the arena paid for with tax dollars was the only way a pro basketball team was going to be willing to set up in such a highly undesirable state to live in as in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City has already suffered enough of an economic blow from Thunder being unable to play.

If they are going to pretend they are sports team, and start off each game with political statements and support for a Marxist group...
