What ever happened to the liberal/leftist mantra, "my body, my choice"
I have a close relative who tested positive for COVID and I was exposed to them. I called a MD friend of mine to see what options I and my immediate family has (including Hydroxychloroquine/Chloroquine combined with Z-Pak and zinc) while we are asymptomatic (assuming we test positive).
He said he has taken it as a preventive, but is now prohibited from prescribing it for anything but Malaria and Lupus.
Having nothing to do with Trump or his critics, it really angers me that politics has seeped into medical choices I and other intelligent Americans have to chose from. The current gold standard (meaning the best guess based on preliminary test results) is to go with convalescent plasma, which sounds promising to me. However, it is only available to significantly ill COVID patients or those who are critical.
I get it and agree, as I and my immediate family might not even have tested positive (wont know for 3-5 business days).
The next most promising is supposedly Remdesivir, but since Trump has also touted it, some are automatically against it.
Regardless, it is another drug regiment for those who are at least moderately symptomatic, not those who wish to take it in the early stages. Again I get it, but I want to give my family the best chance to keep from getting ill.
I mean, it's really very simple. The most rigorous tests all show a lack of efficiency for HCQ.
People want it to be true so badly they knowingly put more stock in less scientifically valid "evidence".
Everyone will look for data and material (mainly online) that supports their view on this. And many Trumpers still deny we have a pandemic, and the scenario is all political.

I just retired as an internist. So let me tell you straight - Plaquenil + zpak in the unmonitored outpatient setting is a major no-no! The combo can be a killer. So to do this RX combo willy-nilly is simply medical malpractice! Nothing political about that. We've known this for decades.
Free people get to choose when to speak and when not to speak, who to trust and who not to trust, and who to listen to and who not to listen to. UN-free people get TOLD by those who control the levers of power and communication who gets to speak, who to listen to, and who not to listen to. And the weak-willed Maoist sycophants LIKE it that way.
Right, unfree people get told who not to listen to......
It is just so obvious that the medical industry is as much -- if not more -- deep state as anything. I am pretty sure a substantial number of them are conspiring to keep the numbers looking bad just because they hate Trump.
If you assume that 50% of doctors and nurses are libs... it is obvious.
It has been obvious for years that doctors will let any patient die if it means they get something personally.
Yes, absolutely. Trump alone saves. He is always right. Obey Him, follow Him, worship Him. Anyone who disagrees with Him is a deep state DEMON FROM HELL and should be executed!
Everyone lies but Trump! Trump knows all, sees all. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He has always been, He will always be.
Nobody tells the truth but Trump. Listen to Trump. Obey Trump. Anyone who does not agree with Trump on everything is the enemy!
I mean it makes way more sense that everyone in the world who doesn't agree with Trump is in a massive conspiracy and will kill people just to make him look bad than that Trump is ever wrong about anything, ever.
The point is, dear, as has been made clear in this thread: Both Trump's own public health officials, and the medical and scientific community at large, have provided evidence, that disproves the claims of a few, regarding this dangerous drug. Hydroxychloroquine is not an effective treatment for the virus.
Yet, in the face of all this, Trump, and his remaining useful idiots, ignorantly insist on promoting an ineffective and dangerous treatment with disinformation and the usual Trumpian twisty lies. That is the topic of the thread.
Another doozy. I wonder what this poster's current handle is nowadays.
