I agree that we need to address security issues as they arise, but arbitrary bans are never good. People on the right used to be the CPP’s harshest critics when it came to censoring Google and others. Now Trump is stooping to China’s level - which is not good.
Exactly how I see it. US is not China. US supposed to be the country of the free, but as we have see, we get censorship for every level.

I'm still waiting for someone to furnish a verified security flaw from these apps. not the clipboard exploit that's already been remediated, that apps such as linkedin and reddit were also guilty of.

i'm also wondering why it's so hard to produce since anyone working in the IT/dev industry should easily be able to provide evidence.

And Trump isn't? His businesses manufacture goods in China. He tried to make a deal for China to buy up agricultural products, but dropped mention of enforcing IP to Xi. And he pooh-pooed pushing China about their persecution of Uighurs.

In bed with China....BUT started trade war, ban Chinese tech companies, arrested Huawei executive via Canada, "Chinese virus", withdrew from WHO because they are also in bed with China, rolled back status of Hong Kong, etc.

sure, if you say so I guess

Former President Obama is not in public office in any role and has no bearing on his latest temper tantrum. He's upset because tech savvy youth used TikTok to affect his Tulsa Covid Round-up....
