“If I win, I may extend and terminate,” Trump said, repeating a longtime goal but remaining silent on how he’d fund the Medicare and Social Security benefits that the 7% tax on employee income covers. Employers also pay 7.65% of their payrolls into the funds.

If you value your life and wellbeing- dump him in NOV.!!
So what am I paying FICA for??

Well, if you think providing more and better social services is a good thing, then the US needs to tax like those other countries to make it happen - regressively.

I doubt the US low and middle income groups will ever be willing to pay their share, so it will never happen. Oh, well...

says a liberal.

Or are you attempting to say he has the guts to openly say something "bad" about SS when everyone has known for 30 years that real change was needed?

Democrats are going to deal out gov't goodies like candy, but it's not going to be to the working man like the years past, it's going to be for the illegals and lazy and YOU and I are going to get a huge tax bill for it all. He's also running on reversing all the Trump tax cuts, so the middle class taxes are going to go back up, inheritance taxes are going to go up, companies are going to reverse direction and re-export all the manufacturing jobs we've gained in the last 4 years and the tax income that came with them. Couple all that with this financial fallout from Covid-19, and we'll be lucky if we don't see a complete failure of our economy and world de-basement of the US dollar = Hello USA as a third world country.
And to close, you know what happens then? All those "promised" freebies all the sudden don't have funding so they simply don't happen. You know what else isn't going to happen? All those elitist liberal billionaires aren't going to truly embrace socialism and give up their status by rolling their $$$$ into the system to support all the handouts.....oh no. You'll just have succeeded in handing them the throne while sinking the rest of the 99% into life in an cardboard box home eating food bank scraps like Tijuana.
Seriously? This iteration of the GOP approved what, $6T in new debt since Trump got in office? You want to complain about the Dem's spending money? Are you even paying attention? Permanent tax cuts for businesses and a temporary one for everyone else? Who do you think is going to pay for this fiasco?! The promised revenue stream prior to the pandemic didn't even come close to GOP predictions. So who? The tooth fairy? Please spare us the sanctimonious party banter.

I PRAY this version of thee GOP gets creamed at the ballot box, and I hope more fiscally conservative republicans take their place. With the kind of party they are running now its a joke.

The ancient proverb "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is my principle. Long live the Lincoln Project!!

President Trump, thanks to high deficits in his first two full years in office followed by massive federal expenditures aimed at offsetting the economic effects of the coronavirus crisis, is on pace to add more to the national debt in his first term than did former President Barack Obama, whom Republicans often criticized for irresponsible spending.

Obama in 2010-2013, the first four fiscal years for which he was fully responsible, tacked $4.4 trillion onto the national debt. Trump, between fiscal 2018 and 2021, is projected to add more than $7.6 trillion to the national debt, mainly on the back of projected $3.8 trillion and $2.1 trillion deficits in 2020 and 2021, according to the fiscal watchdog Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. The national debt is currently more than $25 trillion.

I just watched Trump talking to the presstitutes. He said the money will NOT come out of Social Security, he's taking it from the General Fund.

Now you can rest easy.

Oh noes!!!

The same thing is going to happen like it did when Obama have the middle class a $1000 payroll tax cut in 2010!

And the same thing is going to happen like when Congress extended it, and increased it to $1500 in 2011!

Nothing.

How could he?!?

Lol

From what I gather, this was one of the points that Democrats previously were not willing to negotiate on.

Good job, President Trump.
Excellent job. Dems must now come to the table prepared to compromise enough, that the GOP in the House , Senate, plus POTUS finds their offer preferable to the executive orders.

NP created the strong hand POTUS Trump was able to play Saturday.

If congress would do their job then the executive branch wouldn't have to govern by pen and paper. I believe the president will succeed/be affirmed with this process, and 'force' compromise in congress.

Congress gives away their authority by doing nothing, except for political gain. They're all guilty of partisanship.

Term Limits & Balanced budgets, is our only hope.
