Illogical.

The definition of fear mongering is to needlessly raise alarm.

So by definition, when the numbers turned out to be low, it would have been "fear mongering" to continue to raise alarm. But by your statement, they didn't continue to raise alarm. So they were not fear mongering.

And inversely, if the numbers turned out to be high, and they were raising alarm, that would not be considered "needlessly".

So if I am just going by the information in your post, the CDC response to swine flu was appropriate, yet you are using it as a negative statement towards the CDC. That is illogical.

You're right about the economic damage not being necessary. Taiwan never shut down their economy because of Covid. Taiwan's unemployment rate fell to around 3.9% in June. What's our unemployment rate now because of Covid? 10.2% with around 30 million American's unemployed. That is nearly 3x the number of unemployed in 2008, which was around 11 million. Guess what's going to happen to the housing market when those evictions and foreclosures start. Do you remember how bad 2008 was?

So yes, you're right. This isn't the plague, or anthrax. Good job, at least you're not calling this highly contagious SARS virus just another flu.

We did not need to destroy our economy and put us tipping into a depression with a deficit out of control because the rich needed their big beautiful tax break. Had we had all the best people in place to handle this swiftly and with a scientific approach vs a conspiracy driven hoax mentality, we wouldn't have needed to shut down our economy.

I'm glad you're admitting that Trump is a failure for not keeping the economy open and killing off grandma's and grandpa's for the sake of a buck. What's your favorite cheese? I'll send you some to go with that whine. Per Trump's words, "It is what it is." We only have 1918 remedies in our tool box to deal with this virus. You want better? So do I. Next time vote for someone who respects science vs a barking carnival clown bent of spinning and lying. Taiwan's Vice President is an epidemiologist. Talk about all the best people.

So stop whining about Trump not needing to shut down the economy and accept that fact that you voted for this nightmare.
