Actually it wasn't 900 cases. Due to contact with those tested positive, others had to quarantine.
"Since we’ve reopened, and as of this morning, there have been 59 positive COVID-19 tests confirmed among our students and staff, which have led us to mandate two-week quarantines for 925 students and staff. "
Correct it was 900 quarantined because they had contact, increased to over 1,200 quarantined today and a second school closed. I'm just looking at pictures of that crowded hall way with students without masks and wonder what they expected, why don't they believe in science.
It would be interesting to see how where they drew the line for quarantine with that many people crowded together.

Its not a matter of believing in science.
Just as this is a novel virus and the science of it has not been fully studied/discovered, our reactions and responses are also novel and the outcomes/consequences not fully studied/discovered. It is all an incomplete evolving science.

I agree there is still much to learn but we do know it can remain asymtomatic for days and it spreads rapidly indoors yet that is still being ignored. Best way to prevent the spread is to get the numbers down before these places open up.
Only disease we've ever cared if anyone is asymptomatic. Just moving the goalposts to keep things abnormal as long as they can.
They who? The conservative GA school district? The other 7.3 Billion people on the planet? All just to get Trump out of office? Is there anything some people don't believe?
University of Florida researchers have isolated aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 and demonstrated that it can infect cells at distances greater than six feet. Something to keep in mind as we send our kids back to school.
Agreed that school closures create incredible hardship for two-income families who don’t have the luxury of working at home, which is why every family needs a plan B that they can deploy in short order. The quarantine procedures that many districts have in place right now practically guarantee that schools will reach a tipping point and have to close.
Even worse for single mothers, especially the ones who don't have help of family.

I live north of Atlanta, near Cherokee. The governor will not allow school districts to mandate masks. Only suggest it. Meanwhile more than 100 Georgians are dying each day and that high number is expected to continue several weeks after infections go down.
Schools and parents are in turmoil here.

Absolutely.
