I would prefer Trump, at least I know he will try to stop violence, looting, Biden supports itt.

Biden does not in any way support looting and rioting. He probably does support at least some police reform, but he's definitely pretty sympathetic to law enforcement in general. As for Trump, his one action in Portland only made the violence worse. He has done nothing productive to quell it, otherwise. He's just not a leader, and about as far away from a calming voice of reason as we could possibly have.

Perhaps we should look at the leadership of the violent areas rather than President Trump, as it is their job to manage local matters. Seriously, is President Trump supposed to jump on Air Force One, fly into Chicago and drive onto Chicago's Magnificent Mile and put a stop to the rampage and looting?

As it stands, my vote is going to be more of a quiet protest and an act of defiance than a choice; I'm more than a bit resentful about that. By the time the primaries rolled around in my state, I didn't have any options left to vote for anyone save Biden. He was not to be my choice--not by a long shot.

There's a lot of closeted and not-so-closeted "buyer's remorse," when it comes to those who voted for DT in 2016, but with the way things are right now, he's set to be reelected because people are a.) neither inspired nor enthused by the Democratic offering(s) and/or b.) frightened of what they've been seeing/reading/hearing on the nightly news, online, and on the airwaves.

Being put back into the very position that I was in 2016, i.e., voting against rather than for a specific candidate is rather galling. I'm glad that my local and state races are not so for the most part--I'm actually eager to vote for a few of the candidates on the ballot. It's my hope that one in particular drops his hat into the presidential ring at some point in the future as he checks a lot of boxes for moderate Democrats and Republicans alike.
Well what happened to the Democratic party that you felt this way by the time the primaries were held in your state? With regards to the GOP (nifty how you've put blame onto them for your lack of options) I can tell you how this unreasonable individual got where he is. Republicans tried a so-called "reasonable" candidate in previous elections. Reasonable has come to mean someone the Democrats find tolerable, but won't actually vote for should they get nomination (a la Mitt Romney). Reasonable means someone who is in favor of much of the same stuff Democrats are ... I'll give amnesty to illegals in my 1st 100 days in office, said John Kasich. If I wanted someone like that I might just as well have voted for a Democrat.

Maybe he'll get around to answering the question someday. Funny how Trump supporters are frequently told This isn't 2016, you know. Then Democrats put forth a nominee straight from 2016.

That is one thing she has in common with Biden .... they were both rejected by their own parties. Yet together they are the nominees for the office of president and VP. Yet many Democrats are just fine with this.

No, but how about doing things he can do- push for reforms, give speeches to try to calm the situation, etc. It's certainly what any other president would do, especially the latter. Instead, he's actively inflaming the situation with rhetoric.

The protests occurred in red and blue states, in cities led by Democrats and Republicans. Looting is occurring in only a handful of places at this point. I would imagine that there's more a correlation to local leadership's relationships with the police and their own abilities rather than political association.

I put this in another thread, but these are just some of the reasons I support Biden.

1. He will respect the office of the president.
2. He will respect the constitutional separation of powers.
3. He will believe in science and won't peddle anti-intellectualism as some kind of virtue.
4. Because he believes in science, he will work to tackle things like climate change, will invest in green technology that will create a lot of new jobs and will not allow a free-for-all corporate pollution fest into the air and water.
5. He will be able to tell the difference between an ally and an adversary.
6. He won't congratulate China on its concentration camps or human rights violations.
7. He will be far more likely to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
8. He won't attack or stand in the way of LGBT equality.
9. He will pick the next 1-2 SCOTUS judges.
10. He'll put together a team to not only help get the pandemic under control, but also leave the nation better prepared for the inevitable next one.
11. He won't base who he cares about on whether they support him.
12. He won't encourage or instigate racism within American society.
13. He won't confuse tweeting for leadership.
14. He'll be better on deficits.
15. He'll be better on job growth.
16. He'll reinstate consumer and worker protections.
17. He'll rejoin most- if not all- of the multi-nation agreements that are an actual benefit to the nation's security.
18. He won't be best friends with authoritarians and dictators.
19. He won't give North Korea a seat on the global stage and then demand a Nobel Prize for doing nothing.
20. He'll actually hold Russia accountable for their attacks on everything from our troops to our elections.
21. He won't use tariffs- which act as a tax on American consumers.
22. He won't wish child sex ring leaders well.
23. He won't give tax cuts to the rich while ignoring everyone else.
24. He won't tell people to inject household chemicals.
25. He won't ask foreign nations for election help.
26. He won't fire or try to expose government whistleblowers.
27. He won't use the military to police citizens.
28. He will accept and listen to dissent.
29. He will read intelligence briefing reports.
30. He won't call Nazis good people.
31. He will not pretend like the stock market means the economy is good for everyone.
32. He will not reveal classified information to impress foreign White House guests.
33. He will not pardon war criminals.
34. He will not politicize everything from the National Weather Service to the United States Post Office.
35. He will not lie about the paths of hurricanes.
36. He won't attack Gold Star families.
37. He will end national bans based on religion.
38. He will not use the office to enrich himself through the use of his own real estate.
39. He will fill government departments with qualified people, not just with cronies and donors.
40. He will not engage in nepotism by having his entire family work at the White House.
41. He will not dog-whistle about urban violence or suburban housing.
42. He will not make up scandals about former presidents spying on him.
43. He will respect the military records of POWs.
44. He will not lie about his inauguration crowd size.
45. He will not defend the Confederacy.
46. He will actually have an infrastructure plan.
47. He won't brag about sexually assaulting women.
48. He will not pay off a prostitute using campaign funds.
49. He will not attack American states or territories after natural disasters because they criticized his response.
50. He will not embarrass us at global events like the Helsinki Summit.
51. He will bring us back into the WHO.
52. He won't make the Census partisan.
53. He will not abandon military allies.
54. He will not gas peaceful protesters for a photo op.
55. He will not question the impartiality of non-white judges.
56. He will not get us into more wars.
57. He will not be impeached.
58. He will *definitely* have fewer former associates, advisors, personal lawyers and department heads indicted or imprisoned due to fraud, extortion, money laundering and perjury.
59. He will support the police without making excuses when they do something wrong.
60. He won't have a history of defrauding consumers out of their money through schemes involving steaks, universities, casinos, real estate and beauty pageants.
61. He will support sensible gun control, but also support gun ownership.
62. He will end private, for profit prisons.
63. He will end mandatory minimums in sentencing.
64. He will support a higher minimum wage that is at least closer to a living wage.
65. He will support paid sick and family leave.
66. He will support expanding student debt relief programs.
67. He will not fight marijuana legalization.
68. He won't raise taxes on the middle and lower income groups.
69. He will actually get new trade deals done without simply naming an old one something different and declaring victory.
70. He will be a decent, if not flawed, human being.
