Trump admits his war on the USPS is an effort to restrict voting rights. (money, supporters)

Reality check:The postal service slowed partially due to staffing issues with the paranoia-virus shutdowns on top of the fact that use of the PO increased the last few months.
In WA state, you only need to have your ballot postmarked by election day. Other states are requiring you to have the ballot delivered by election day. That just seems wrong. Your vote should count once it is in the hands of the post office.
And the democrats are trying to use mail in voting to commit fraud. Trump is doing what's best for America and Americans. If you can go shop, go to church, go out and do ANYTHING then you can go vote IN PERSON.
This, 100%.
The USPS is fading anyway. Let it slip into a novelty, with a small budget and necessity packages and letters sent as needed.
I don't necessarily agree with Trump's timing, but you gotta admit, it's a solid chess move.
The Democrats are all "but that was how we were gonna cheat--I mean win!" LOL
Simply a thousand pieces hit the station needing to be sent to the proper carrier route. Only the person who does that or a family member is sick or under quarantine and due to many others being in isolation there is no substitute available to move the mail that step. So that entire piece of equipment holding random pieces it is pushed in the corner to work the next day. Only there is already stuff needing to be worked the next day so that next day is pushed further back to yet another day. We are now at a 4 day backlog and still being mandated and forced to work 12 hours on and off. So much for no overtime, the PMG's goal
Now the service had tried to triage the pieces in that equipment being differed, slowing everything down for the extra handling by the way, meaning more pieces stack up instead of being delivered. And during the triage pull out what seems like prescription medications by feel to make them a priority along with Priority Mail and Amazon parcels but many slip through the cracks and our veterans didn't get their medication today, tomorrow or the next day as it sits until a body is finally available to work that day's parcels.
But of course the USPS is not UPS or FedEx so they can not raise the price due to congestion, raising gas prices or anything. The price is what the price is and the USPS can not refuse service.
so I take it you work for USPS? that would be great, an actual inside look at what's going on.
I haven't seen where more than ~1% of employees were out of work for COVID reasons. Do you have a link that provides an accurate figure?
Not sure what this has to do with my post, but yeah, "defund" would be a poor choice of words IMO.
Is this thread about "fixing" the USPS? I didn't think it was, but I might be wrong.
a discussion about fixing the Post Office would be much more accurate and productive than the OP and the thread title.
I know I've already said what seem to be the 2 biggest issues to fixing it - the 2006 law that radically changed their pension obligations and the inability to raise prices.
Has anyone considered those in rural areas or vets that get their meds through the mail?
of course!
Quote:
how is that folks wouldn't get their meds? How many people does this affect?
if the post office said - your "free shipping on vital meds" won't get there in 3 days, it will take 7, what do you think the medication providers would do?
do you have any information or data to share so we can further consider it?
Funny that Trump and his trophy wife are voting by mail this year. More hypocrisy from the LIAR in CHIEF. He’s afraid he’s going to lose this election and his fragile ego couldn’t take being classified as a failure and a loser. He is probably going to sue even if Biden wins in a landslide. Crying and whining that the election was a hoax. This moron is a pitiful piece of garbage.
Ya, like "family values" and holding the bible up. I guess his porn star girlfriends (esp. when his wife was home pregnant), not paying taxes (most likely), a fake T university and a fake college degree (probably) don't bother the GOP.
I have a very hard time believing T ever grad. college legitimately. He can barely form a coherent sentence. His lack of written and verbal skills are astounding. I actually wonder if T did anything legitimately. Most NY'ers know what a scam artist he is.
WaPo published USPS data showing at least 671 USPS mail sorting machines have been removed across the country since June. This represents a reduction in national mail sorting capacity of 21.4 million pieces of mail per hour.
Quote:
We live, work, and serve in every community in America. We operate more than 31,000 Post Offices; 204,274 delivery vehicles, and more than 8,500 pieces of automated processing equipment; and we work with approximately 58,000 retail partners and other access points. On a typical day, our 633,000 employees physically process and deliver 471 million mailpieces to nearly 160 million delivery points.
all I can go by is the data available.
They process 146B pieces a year with 8,500 pieces of equipment.
WaPo is saying whatever is going on with 10% of that equipment is causing a reduction of more than 1/3?
Maybe WaPo can spend more time telling us about these 671 mail sorting machines, and less about how Trump is supposedly trying to suppress voters.
were the machines re-allocated? mothballed because usage is down? being repaired? Do these machines sort everything, or just first class mail? Does the significant drop in first class mail matter?
