Google 'new Trier teachers salaries' and take a look. I can't link it because it is giving only a PDF and my name is on the link.

I think the poster with whom you’re debating is engaging in more than a bit of hyperbole.
See above post. New Trier teachers salaries.

You are hilariously wrong. There is no district in the USA where that salary is COMMON. Do you guys just make this crap up? If 10 teachers out of 1000 making 90's is what you call "common" then maybe you'd be correct. Most are between 50 and 75k. You guys just like making things up it appears.
The median teacher compensation Is $58,000.

NY state has the highest median wage at $79,000.
Oklahoma * has the lowest median at $39,000.

Cost of living is highly variable across and within states.

There is a tendency for some people to apply anecdotal information to fit all.

They can be fired anytime the administrations decides. In my time several were run off for being stupid. And that's what it takes. Persistent parental involvement in what the kids are being taught and how.

If your district employs highly paid lazy asre teachers it is because you and your community are not doing your job.
BS. The school boards rubber stamp everything the administration recommends. Tenured teachers don't get fired. lol

Okay - this is one example that is true that it looks like 90k and above. With that said I did say 1 to 5% are over 90k across the US... this apparently is a great example where somehow a school IS way overpaying it's staff! I will admit these numbers are crazy and NONE of those teachers making 135k to teach English/Math should be complaining, either go in or let someone else go in. Hell I'd go in for those numbers!

A science teacher making 135k? Time to go learn how to be a science teacher and move to IL. The cost of living related to those salaries are great!

National statistics do not support your perceptions.

But the nonsense going on here is outrageous. Just quit teaching if you’re afraid of the big bad virus. And if you’re obese or a smoker, that’s you’re own fault for engaging in a high risk lifestyle.

Covid doesn’t really hurt kids, and it’s a 99% survival rate virus. But it might as well be the end of the world.
Possibly this mind sent might change. KIDS do get sick just don't always succumb to the virus. However, many live in homes where normally have helicopter parents. They know from the first cold when their baby could not breathe and cried all night, they became protective parents. Do you not think during the last 5 months that there's been no school, those parents protected those kids??
Now that kids are let lose back into the world, with out mom or dad, we shall see what the numbers do.

You cannot use your ONE experience to say someone is wrong. You need to find large sets of data to do that. One poster above DID do that and I will admit it's surprising to see ONE district grossly overpaying.. However even that one district does not represent "average teacher pay in the US"

It sounds like little difference.

All they would need is a computer program to follow and babysit the kids. They would be less likely to be indoctrinators of pc brainwashing. I believe that is the motivation for most teachers these days, learning is secondary. Even their "I miss you" tweets and videos are dripping with liberal pc syrup.
