No one remembers that, because it didn't happen.

It was two blocks away, and "mosque" is kinda misleading, but hey - gotta keep those outrage juices flowing.

Everybody is at some degree of risk. The big problem is that nobody knows if infected if it will just be a mild and brief illness with no lingering serious side effects, such as myocarditis.

Don't worry, there are no lockdowns or movement toward that. AMC announced that it will start reopening movie theaters on August 20: https://www.stwnewspress.com/covid-1...c716c56fd.html

I don't understand the cancellation of this event, if viewed through the lens of risk.

Are they afraid folks will congregate and view the lights as huge groups? I don't think this was a common thing with past events.

This definitely is starting to get into nanny state over-reach by the government, I think.

The firemen and policemen were the heroes. So they don't want to commemorate them or the victims in the towers who were overwhelmingly white.

Tunnel2towers.org is going to make this happen. Saw it on the news this morning.

DeBlasio claims he is worried about the 40 workers that set up the lights might get Covid 19. Tunnel2towers believes they can protect the people setting it up.

The organization has also contacted many of the families to invited them to the reading of names and to participate.

If they called it a Marxist protest, the moron running NY would allow it. This is a good example of why no matter how I vote, it won't be for a Democrat....any Democrat, in the foreseeable future. They are simply irredeemable.

I’ve been wondering if this is the real reason why they are cancelling it. If it was called a commemoration for George Floyd it would probably be allowed.

If this doesnt make them see whats happening...NOTHING EVER WILL!!

What I find amazing about this is how naive SO MANY people are!! They announce that the 9-11 tribute will not be held due to the virus...and people JUST ACCEPT THAT and comply?!!!!! Heres an idea people...just go and have the tribute! Its sad how we dont hear the old phrase anymore, " we will never forget 9-11'...in reality, didnt take long to become ancient history at all.

What kind of world are we living in?

Calm down. That's exactly what is happening. The 9/11 Memorial group didn't want to do it, so another group (Tunnel to Towers) is taking it over. In addition, several area towns have also offered, including Middletown, which lost more people than any other NJ town.
