We do that already considering how many blue states pay more in federal dollars than they get back and states like Mississippi and Kentucky survive due to the generosity of the federal taxpayer. How about making Kentucky and Mississippi pay for Appalachia. The top five states on federal Disability are West Virginia (almost 15%), Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama and Arkansas. States like California have economies larger than most countries.

How about making each state pay for themselves. Get rid of the electoral college and make each state self-sustaining. Then bring out the popcorn and watch Mitch McConnell have to tell his supporters no more billion dollar gifts to Kentucky. Why in the world did Kentucky get a BILLION dollars?

McConnell flexes reelection muscle with $1B gift for Kentucky

Good one! Wow, there are too many good ones to limit it to just one. I'm enjoying reading everyone's thoughts, thx for yours!

No, it wouldn't. Know why?

Same reason every deduction/rate/loophole/soak_the_rich/shift_the_burden/etc plan has failed to noticeably shift the 75+ year average too far away from 17.3% of GDP - the taxpayers have, do and will always CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TAX LAWS.

Period, the end.

History doesn't lie. Numbers and data do not lie. Every plan ever ends up the same place, and every time someone like you swears that this time, by G-d, it will different! You'll see! And it never is. You'll get somewhere around 17% of the GDP in revenue, +/- maybe 0.5% or so.

Setting the top marginal rate to 90% doesn't do bupkus for federal revenue. It simply makes vengeful Have-Nots feel good that Leviathan is inflicting pain on their imaginary enemy, but they really aren't even doing that. They are simply telling the Haves to change their behavior in order to avoid the tax laws, and they will.

I'd agree to boot the ones out who voted for Sanders or Warren in the primary, & the ones who didnt vote but are rioting and looting (not the real Geo Floyd protesters though)...the rest may be saveable though.

Many moderate Democrats are future Republicans & Conservatives. We don't want to cut off our pipeline.

Most of us start off as Dems, then we get our first paycheck.

More of a constitutional change: No house district shall represent more than 200,000 citizens.

no defense of corporations. just the point here. its not just one side doing damage.

how about limiting expenditures to individuals with a max cap like x dollars per candidate and x dollars total per calendar year?

no PACs, no pooling together.

Wow, that is a GREAT idea! Property taxes would fall a lot. After ending withholding taxes, this is my #2.

If we did these 2 things, taxes would be reduced by so much, I could buy that 32' boat I've been eyeing.
