A false equivalence faulty reasoning.
One could also say that by the end of this year, there would have been 200,000 more deaths than expected, or 3 million total deaths in the United States.
Anyway, the next time someone starts a new thread about the homicide rate in the United States, you just blast back at them with the above statistics to show that homicides are not as deadly as everyday life in the United States, hence not a problem.

Your post is a good reason why other people have to make decisions about public health policy for you. Unfortunately, some people think they're smarter than the trained professionals with experience.
Of course the COVID death rate is far lower than the press is pretending it to be. It's all about fear and controlling the population and hammering the economy down to try and get Biden elected.
I have asked everyone I know if they know of anyone who has had Covid - or someone that those people know that has had covid or died from it. 3 people say they know people that have had it - and one person says they know someone who died from it - and that person had advanced diabetes and was 82. It's out there - but not nearly as bad as to warrant the psy-ops program we are experiencing. That is being done to try and change the US into a socialist country following the new green deal. Marxist dems and deep state players are showing their hand.

I think during this time that we're shut down out of fear of COVID, there are probably people alive who would have died from ordinary life circumstances in normal times. Fewer car wrecks, drownings, alcohol poisoning, dying in a hot car, fireworks accidents, food poisoning, etc.
But at the very least, people's ability to evaluate risk has been seriously compromised. Consider the bizarre-- but common-- suburban phenomenon of the masked bike rider---sans helmet. There is no chance of catching or spreading Covid while riding your bike on a nearly empty street alone. There is a far greater risk of getting a head injury or hit by a car--- without a helmet. Pre-covid, helmets were nearly universal.
At its peak in April, the death rate in the US was 40% above normal.
