Although it may be commonsense to you in your area, the President has no power to enact it. Neither does the Congress. Health is the sole purview of the States and their county health departments.
Different disease, but it outlines the authority:
"The United States has 51 state health departments (including the District of Columbia's) and approximately 2800 local health agencies.7,8 The majority of states also have local health agencies. Depending on the state's structure, local agencies’ authority may flow through the state health department or be granted independently.7 Their size, structure, and authority differ, but all were created by a legislative grant and share the common goal of promoting and protecting health within their communities. Health departments traditionally work in concert with other agencies and nongovernmental organizations. Approximately half of the state health agencies have a significant source of authority that allows them to enact rules and regulations to further their public health missions,7 and 73% of local health departments report using this authority to adopt public health regulations.8 This rule-making authority stems from laws passed to advance public health in specific ways."

I would also argue that this is the core of the founding of our country: Legislation (taxation) without representation. The Constitution does not grant the President, the Congress, or the Senate the ability to regulate Health. It should be decided at the local level where the decision is appropriate for the people in that area.

Exactly. Liberals have the mistaken belief that somehow they can eliminate all risk from society, but fail to appreciate that a free society carries with it necessary risks. Unfortunately, they're too eager to wrap us all in bubble paper "for our own good".

I personally would much rather live in a more dangerous, but freer society.

We've to lots of fires burning all around the San Fransicko Bay Area right now. The local rhetoric "news" station was running the stories about the fires and they added that since we are already wearing masks for the coronavirus, those masks will also help protect the wearers against the smoke particles in the air.

And the maskers on this forum were telling everyone that the masks are only protecting the one's not wearing masks from the maskers who wear them. Because, according to the maskers on this forum, coronavirus can't exit out the mask, but can enter into the mask from the outside.

Funny how that works. masks can't stop incoming coronavirus but can prevent incoming smoke particles. Got to love these demolibs and their "news" rhetoric entertainment.

Above demostrates how uncomfortable the new Left is with federalism and how comfortable they are undermining personal liberties!
Just doing what seem proper to keep your neighbor from dying,,, as least that's how the entire world is doing it. but some rebelled in 1918 and will continue to do so... until its one of their kinfolks or friends

And yet whenever new laws or regulations come out, that are intended to protect public health and safety...majority of people agree with them and comply??!

Opioid prescription drugs is a great example, doctors used to give those out like candy, now they are STRICTLY controlled, and WALLAH, majority of people fell for it, they agree, the new laws are beneficial!! LOL

please note, the left thinks its common sense to have a freak in Washington DC decide how people in vastly different environments and vastly different situations should all behave.
